Advice and suggestions on what business to get into? Do you have any business sense? Do you have any money to live off of while you start your business? Life is much much different when you work for yourself as everything is up to you. |

Well, everybody is not born with business sense, it has to be acquired when you get into it. I think I am looking for some business ideas with less investment. |

Go with something you're passionate and/or know a lot about, whether it's with clothing, food, or small engine repair, etc. Some people may disgree with me on this one and that's fine, but with business, you need to be smart, a good critical thinker, hard-working, and be very very good at telling white lies, as well as deceiving people the odd time to make a sale or close deals. You also have to be resilient, because in business, you realize that there are a lot of penny-pinchers and cheap-asses in this world that will drive you absolutely insane. Just ask people who've held garage sales this past summer. You get scrubs who don't sat hi or anything to you, and just curtly ask, "how much?" "Too much," and then start bargaining for a $3 item. I do car repairs on the side and get people who expect oil changes for $10, or to just provide beer for a 3-hour back-breaking tune-up job. Milton can use some more authentic ethnic food restaurants like Lebanese/Arab cuisine, a cafe or lounge to smoke some shisha, or an automotive performance parts shop. |

Think about a need and fill it. You gain success in business by adding value to the lives of the community. You either need to be an expert in your field, or you need to have a product that stands out. Chuck P.S. Read a book called the "Four Hour Workweek" by Tim Ferriss for ideas on running a side business. |

Elections are not far off. You should get elected as mayor and run the city for us. |

You do not sound very motivated and it sounds like you want something to fall on your lap. It will not happen! Why don't you use us to bounce your ideas off of instead of waiting for someone to give you an idea? You should be doing the work, not us.... Matt |

Take a huge business loan and begin daytrading tech stocks, it's foolproof. |

If by foolproof, you mean proof of foolishness |

Thanks Guys for your advice and suggestions. I am sorry I haven't replied back. I got busy with my new born baby lately. I agree with Matt and here are some of my ideas that I want to share with you all - need your comments on: 1. Indian Grocery Store 2. Indian Restaurant 3. Import/Export Business Import/Export sounds more interesting to me because I think it can be started with less investment. I still have to study what to import/export but any suggestions from your side will be valuable for me. Thanks all. |

I'm not East Indian, but it would be great to have an authentic Indian restaurant here as I like the food. The non-authentic Chinese restaurant at the A&P plaza that just opened is making a killing because Canadians love that stuff, and they are so busy that they can't even keep up with orders and deliveries. It's booming also b/c they are close to new Milton; lots of white-collars with middle to upper-middle incomes with young kids who don't have time to cook or work late, so they eat out more. Look for factors like the market and demographics, and capitalise on them. Hell, I look at the demographics here and what people on this site like to see, and it makes me want to start up a pho restaurant in town. |

not that i love Mcdonalds... (but damn, there breakfast good) But it would be nice to have a "fast food" closer to the New Milton area or on the way to the highway for a fast pick up on the way to work in the wee hours of the morning and night. |
