I've seen it many times.

How is it a shortcut? It would have to either run on the inside wall or the outside wall along the same path wouldn't it?

the line is fully exposed in the garage. It comes from the meter outside into the garage. It runs along outside of the drywall and then elbows up to the ceiling.

I think the difference is, i do not have a basement, therefore mine is more exposed.

But it's a standard 1.5" pipe.

Put the meters in the back like the other TH's all have. What I'm saying is that it wasnt thought out properly, screw the home owner once more with giving them less space then they actually bought. so you are telling be that all these builders installing gas/hydro meters in front of the house is aesthetically pleasing? no they are doing it cause its easier for them. I live in a TH now and all meters are in the back of the house.

Meters need to be in a place where they can be read without having to go through a locked gate. I have seen many on the front of a house because of this. Just plant some shrubs/bushes in front.
