Ok, so the title says it all- I'm looking for anyone who has ever cooked a turkey on the BBQ.....I was thinking about using the BBQ so the kitchen doesn't get too hot....wanted to put the turkey in a roasting pan and cook it on the bbq, but keep finding conflicting stories on the internet. Some sites say you shouldn't stuff a turkey if you're cooking it on the BBQ, some say you can.
Some sites say it will take 11-13 minutes per pound, some say 20 minutes per pound! That turns out to be a 2 hour time difference which makes a huge impact on what time I put the turkey on.
I have a 16 pound turkey and would be really interested in tips or personal experiences about this. HELP!!

I have never done a turkey, but we do chickens all the time....

Put drip pan under the grates to catch the drippings.....use indirect heat...

Robert Rainford (License to Grill) did a smoked Turkey on the BBQ...here is the recipie...I am sure you could tweak it a bit, but it gives you some good ideas.

Hope this helps!
