Well did that weekend ever come and go fast!

Thursday

Started targeting our smallie zones and boy were they there as they showed their faces right away. You'd hook one then 4-8 more would pop out of the wood work and follow that one back to the boat trying to get the lure out of it's mouth. That's when we realized it was going to be a 1,2 punch type day. The fish were on all day no matter which zone we hit. We easily boated 80+ bass that day between the 2 of us. All fish were between 3-5lbs.

Can't make a trip there without a little effort for a few of these

And that was it for those buggers for the weekend

Towards the end of the day I even caught one of these while dragging a tube - this would be my first EVER and man are they strong

Friday

Did it all over again on a different body of water and the fish were doing the same thing. And the great part is we were all alone Today we fished from 9am through till 7pm. We put 7 bass in the boat within the first 10 mins One of our first fish caughed up one of these then we knew exactly what to hit'em with

I we figured between the 2 of us we easily boated a 100+ smallies, and all fish in the different zones were smackin the same baits. Here's a few shots of the day. Lots of 3+ and 4+ througout the day.

By the end of the day my arms and wrists were gettign sore and my thumbs were getting raw that I had to apply liquid skin that night.

Saturday

Woke up and did it all over again with the same baits only this time we had some good wind coupled with some rain but didn't seem to bother this turkeys Again, early start and fished through till after 6pm, just the 2 of us and did the same type of damage - just crazy

I went through 3 xraps and several trebles as these fatties were straightening hooks! Just to give you an idea just how strong these fall footballs really are they live in a current that goes about 10-12 mph all year!

Here's something interesting - sitting and reflecting back on my weekend fishing I Tried to figure out how many pounds of fish we probably caught this weekend. Now, using a daily average of 100 fish @ 3lbs for 3 days that's 900 pounds of fall footballs we boated!

Just curious why this has "football" in the title?

All those fish were caught in Quebec. I go back several times a year as I used to live there before moving here and my wife's family is back there.
I get back at least 4-5 times a year to fish.

Why do we refer to them as footballs - well those smallmouth bass like a lot of other fish start to feed heavily in order to fatten up for the winter it's just what we call them - they also resemble footballs don't you think?

This weekend it'll be fall perchin' on Simcoe then depending on wind more smallies :D

I though maybe the reference to footballs was to trick people into looking at more fish pics. :)
Are you Tasha's hubby?
