While we are all discovering the 'possibilities' of heating up our homes I got a quick question.

I cranked up the fireplace today and noticed when the blower kicked in I really could hardly feel the wind unless I am 3 inches from the top vent.

In our old house (non-mattamy) you could feel the wind blow from across the room and that blower blew from under not on top. I turned the blower switch all the way to max and its still pretty feeble breeze coming out.

Is this what my $500 gets or do I have a problem, should it be blowing from the top or bottom?

Thanks!!

silly question... is it doing the job? Is it warming the place to your satisfaction?

Our new "energy star" home has a boiler system furnus. i turned it on for the first time, and to my surprise cool to warm was blowing out.. I was ready to call the warranty office FAST. But before i did that, i decided to crank the temp up to see if it would make the house hot... long story short it did warm the house right up to 25c, with the cool to warm air it blew!

do you have a speed control know for the fan, you should be able to adjust it. It pulls air from the bottom and shoots it out the top.]

I bought mine on e-bay for $150 and installed it myself.

Thanks guys.
Yes Matt I have a speed control and its at max but the airflow is pretty weak.
I guess the air flow must be pretty lame or I got to used to my old fireplace that blew the hairs off my toes from across the room when at max speed

It could be a wiring issue. If it is a new house, add it to your 90 day or 1 year or whatever stage you are at into your warranty.

Good luck, I had mine on last night and could not beleive the difference. the wall used to get so hot, now it is not but the carpet 4 feet infront of the fireplace is scorching from the heat being put out now...... I should have got a fan earlier
