Post subject:  Traffic in town yesterday

We should be used to this by now, but last night was a nightmare for traffic.
Apparently James Snow was down to one lane and backed up all along the 401!
I had an appointment and ended up with day care kids at my house for an extra 45 minutes because all their parents were stuck in traffic. Driving through town took forever because everyone seemed to be avoiding James Snow, so Thompson was a parking lot.

Why did they have to close three lanes on JSP when they were not even using them??

They were paving james snow towards main street, and at the intersection. They were still there at 9pm.

I know they were paving, but isn't there a better way they could have done it so that cars were not stuck in there for hours?

not that I am trying to defend.... But I left Canadian Tire around 7:15 and I was only stuck there for about 5-7mins.

But I have to assume because you mention your daycare clients they must have been stuck there around 5:30pm?

Then the town should have start later in the day, after rush hour

I guess they started at the wrong time. They should have started after 7 and into the night. I remember when they paved sections of derry they started later like at 6 and went into the night.

5:30 am they were paving this morning, looks like they are trying to get it done fast. Again, no notice when it is soooooo easy to have a sign up that they can change by computer to give people notice......

Yes it was 5:00 when everyone got stuck.
Some notice would have been nice. Not doing that type of thing in rush hour would be even better.

On a good note though... we were out walking today and went to check out the bridge on Louis St. Laurent. It is four lanes wide even though the road is only two! That is good planning.

This is just a taste of things to come, things will get worse before they get better...

I for one can't wait until they close Derry for a couple months.
