Post subject:  Bills

We are trying to put together a more accurate budget for when we move in. We have tried to investigate how much bills will cost but we don't know anyone that lives in the Milton area.

Could anyone that lives in Hawthorn Village that has a town house (ours is 1370 sq. ft.) give an approximate list of there monthly bills?

It would be greatly appreciated!

Gas
Hydro
Water
Property Taxes
Etc

1822 sq foot house. 5 people...

Hydro $115 per month ... equal billing
Gas $92 per month ... equal billing
Water is included in hydro equal billing
Property taxes ~#3300 ... I put away $300 per month (take total price of home and multiply it by 1% to estimate your price)

Good luck with the bills.

I think there's been about 100 threads about this on here too. Just do a search and see what you can come up with.

Thanks, it's shows I am over budgeting, which I guess is better than underestimating

Those of you giving your monthly equal billing amounts - how long have you lived in your home for??

I moved in in May

1572 sq ft - 2 ppl

Hydro - appx $100 /month or $200 every other month when I get billed for water (this was during the summer also)
Gas - $140/month - equal billing
Taxes - not sure - as they are not assessed yet - but the bank takes almost $400 per month for now!

I think that the first year that you move in your eq billing is more expensive until they assess your use over the first year!

I see I am paying much more than ppl who have a bigger house then me & more ppl living there-- whats my problem?

Here is some stuff from some of my other posts..

I waited a year before I setup equal billing.

From what I understand they take 12 months out of the year to come up with the standard monthy payment and you pay that for 11 months, on the last month they will take into account if you used more or less gas for the year and you will pay that amount.

EX. We started out at $120 per month, then they dropped it to $112 per month sometime during the year and the 12th month I payed $40 due to less gas usage...Now with my full year with equal billing they have dropped the price again to around $90/month.

Valerie, do you have a digital thermostat? If so what are your settings? Do you try using the furnace fan left on all the time?

I've also done some energy saving measures on the house.

1. Solar attic fan - really helped in the summer time to reduce 2nd floor heat

2. Inflectors - to reflect the heat from the suns rays in the summer time. I have yet to see what the benifit will be in the winter (ie: Create heat).

3. During this winter season going to get my permit and work on the basement for full insulation.
