I know about this one from hour previous house in 14b.
Heat or AC goes on and these cracking sounds are starting, heat or AC goes off cracking again.
I asked Mattamy service rep why? He told me it is ducts interconnections or they are ripping against of the studs and walls.
The only place we were getting this sound was in the Master bdrm.
The rest of the house was OK. Mattamy was not going to fix it and after winter I get used to it.
Moved to 15a at another Mattamy house, and no noise.
Looks like sometimes it is easer to sell and buy another one instead of trying to fix it.
LOL.
Sometimes it is siding panels. But they are kind of cracking only once in the late evening while the temperature drops down, or if it is windy it might do it as well.
