Zeesh, how is that blackmail? That is how politics works.

Isn't this what rival MP's and MPP's do all the time? Vote for me and I will do this or that???

Is he not doing exactly the same as his predecessor did four years ago? The difference here is that Ford has the support to make a difference in October. Also look at the reasons behind his ask. It is not an unreasonable request. The other thing that Ford is doing that his predecessor did not do is attempting to reduce spending. If he was not doing that I would be 100% in support of your comment.

I will agree with Steve though he does need to lay out a longer term vision! However Politicians rarely have a vision that extends beyond their term!

Martin

He knows that McGuinty is about to lose and this way he will claim that his 'Ford Nation' was why McGuinty lost.

This way he could blackmail the next government that if they don't give him the money they would lose too.

Exactly what I was thinking.

He is fighting for Toronto (regardless if we agree or disagree with him).

The same way Milton needs to fight to get our hospital! Do we want funding for our hospital expansion before other towns do? Of course!

Should we get funded from the province before an equally deserving town? That's up to the province to make a fair decision. And of course if the provincial government doesn't give us (milton) what WE want for the hospital we will also take our issues to the poll.

I'm no huge Ford fan... I just for some reason don't have a problem with this.

This approach with the provincial government was long over due. And if he can assist with getting the Liberals out of power at the next election that will be great.

Do you guys remember the McGuinty Health Tax intoduced in 2007?
http://www.thestar.com/OntarioElection/article/264399

It was supposed to improve our Health Care System?

Now we have to do more at the municipal level to help out own hospital.

Give me a break.

I have a great idea! Why not standardize municpal taxes across Ontario and have the Ontario government collect them and then give them back to the towns! To make it better the Fed's can charge HST on the one municipal tax system!

It is an empty threat. The type of people who would base their vote on what Rob Ford tells them to do are likely voting Conservative anyway.

So how many Toronto residents pay Ontario provincial taxes? I'm guessing more money flows out of Toronto to the rest of Ontario just like federal tax money flows out of Ontario to the rest of Canada.

As others have said of course Ford should go after provincial money for Toronto just as we should be going after it for Milton. Under the current system it is how the game is played.

Did it make more sense when McGuinty gave all of that money to Ford (car company, not the new mayor). Everybody has their hand out!!!
