Really?
Why can't it open for Spetember of 2013 ? Will it be French Immersion school ? Thanks!

If the Ministry of Education funds the project (which is likely because of the high demand on PL Robertson and the area in general) the project will commence immediately. Most of the schools tend to follow the same footprint and they tend to hire the same contractors making the construction timeline far less than a year ... if funding is in place (I see no reason why it wouldn't be) it will open on time.

If you attend the meeting I've attached below, you'll see what's going on with the #8 school.

Dan, I would love for you to be right, but if #8 were going to open in time, they wouldn't be planning on sending the kids to a temporary "holding" school until #8 is built. Go to the hdsb website, then look under "New! Boundary reviews 2012", then choose "current reviews". There you can read the 3 proposed scenarios for SW#8 Milton.

Feb 2, 2012

Dear Parent/Guardian –

I would like to invite you to a Public Consultation Meeting regarding the boundary review in southwest Milton.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, beginning at 7 p.m. at P.L. Robertson Public School (840 Scott Blvd, Milton).

The meeting will provide an opportunity to share information about the boundary review process, review boundary scenarios, and give members of the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the scenarios.   The schools that will be specifically impacted by this boundary review are P.L. Robertson Public School and the French Immersion students who live within the current Escarpment View Public School boundary.

The scenarios to be presented at the meeting will be posted on the Halton District School Board website (www.hdsb.ca).  Members of the public are asked to check the website prior to the meeting. The scenarios will be posted as soon as they are available.

If you wish to get in touch with your school’s representative on the Boundary Review Committee, contact your School Council Chair.  To submit a question or concern to Board staff, send your email to plan@hdsb.ca

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

Sincerely,

Yaw Obeng
Superintendent of Education

Hi Coakley,

Are you talking about #8 to be open this year September 2012 or Next year September 2013, which year is the on time open?
Does the meeting on Feb 7 has anything to do with #8 constuction or just general talk about the boundary?

Thanks!

Still no final decision on which scenario they will choose. In summary though our kids grades 1 to 6 most probably will be directed to E C Drury until #8 is built. Then staff and all kids will move together to #8 which doesn't sound too bad.

However, it was my first time to realize that our new neighborhood is growing at a rate faster than what the town and ministry our education has budgeted for so they are projecting that within 3 to 4 years our #8 school will over flow and some students will have to relocate again.
I am disappointed at the slow pace of planning and hoping that the province will soon realize that Milton is growing fast and needs to be on top of the list for budget allowances in Ontario and that they give the town the budget to build scoops 8 , 9 and 10 to accommodate for all our children.

Otherwise I would feel like I've made the wrong decision to move my family to Milton

I'm glad you went to the meeting. It's important for new residents to be informed of what's going on in the schools. At least EC Drury won't have portables, which will be nice. We will have to push for the school board to demand funding for the #7 school to be built after #8...

That's insane, I had no idea that people were closing on our street that soon. I guess the summer isn't too far away after all :)

When is your closing?

Wow they are starting early! I saw that yesterday too, we're across the street on lot 235 and they haven't broken ground yet! We close in August.

Just received a phone call from the Mattamy office today to come and pick our exterior colour choices. Will be going in some time this week. Anyone else go through this yet?

yes, we had it two weeks ago, not much choices though. We go Victorian style (VS) package to choose from.

We made our color selections about 2 weeks ago. Had to rank the available choices (in our cases 7-8) in order from 1-5. She said we shouldn't get our hopes up on getting pick #1 or even #2 :(

Fingers crossed though!

Hello Folks,

What is the walkout basement ceiling height on our street? 8 feet or 9 feet?

Thanks.

Hey I looked at my grading permits and the basement floor and first floor are separated by 2.64 m or 8.6 feet ... Minus the floor joists you are looking at 8 feet. I'm not a walkout, but the house next to me is and the measurements are identical.

They rarely frame 9 foot basements nowadays.

Welcome SSK! We're just a couple houses away (lot 235).

We should throw a big block party next year, I nominate Dan to host!! Last time I bought a house, I never had a chance to "virtually" meet so many neighbors!

Welcome SSK, we also went with the Juneberry and are finished our design appointments. I have visited a couple of Juneberry's recently and it is an amazing model. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks Sandeep, I'd like to know the criteria for nominating me :). The Juneberry isn't the largest model, yours would be bigger. My yard might be larger, but inevitably it'll be a huge mud pit for at least a year.
