just wondering, if you guys have gotten any slack going to the sites? I think I was told that unoffcially it's OK to go on sunday's when the trades aren't there... security (I haven't seen any yet) sort of turn their back on it (unless of course you bring a million people with you).

I drove down there a few weeks ago and my car got absolutely destroyed with mud :x

oh the joys of a new home

hey Jen! Great to meet you. And Ed and Andrea! We bought lot 76 last October and are hoping that they start construction on time. 20 days from now! We went out last weekend and its really just a muddy pond with someone's dumped garbage (rude!) at the moment. looking forward to seeing progress real soon.

Hi Lisa and Paul, welcome to the neighbourhood! We're Konstantin, Natasha, and Timothy, and we're #69 - right across the street from you. We have also picked Harris Bay, and even managed to sneak inside one of the HBs under construction (with the owner's permission, of course) - looks good.

Ed and Sharon - good to meet you as well.

wowee.... disappear for a little while and look what happens.... lots of new faces ;-)

Hey Michele & Amanda, Ed & Sharon and of course next door neighbours Paul and Lisa :) Nice to (virtually) meet you!

As far as I know everything is still on time, our contract has a start date of May 5th on the house, so I guess we'll know around then if they're on time based on if they start building or not... I'm thinking we should be alright based on all the work that's going around already...

Hello everyone! Rob, you are right...the mud was extreme on Sunday. I made the mistake of getting out of the car in my wellies only to get stern talking to when i wanted to get back IN the car covered in mud. oops! The strange thing is that when we bought in oct08 all the other houses were listed with a May closing....thats when I got concerned to see absolutely no movement. We just thought it was strange as they have done an awesome job all through winter getting stuff done. Konstantin, nice to meet you as well. Thats cool you walked through the HBay! We are really excited about our purchase.

Ya we bought in October as well and we had our closing bumped a couple of weeks till September putting us as the last house to close at that time.. Guess things really slowed down because now it appears some of the other houses will be closing as late as November... Hopefully they'll get the park done quickly so we don't have to deal with that mud for too long ;-)

But how did you get your closing date 'bumped up' a few weeks? Was that your choice or M's choice? The reason I ask is that I have talked to our Service Rep and she didn't really know if they were going to start on time. Don't get me wrong, she was quite nice, but shouldn't she know? She said the 'permit' from the city hadn't come through yet. erm.....what? When we picked a lot for Aug09 closing we did so in hopes of being one of the very last to be built on the street....same reason....we wanted the park to be more than just a mudslide. Clearly Paul isn't keen when I walk around in the mud in my wellies.

We did it when we made the offer, we told them we wanted the house on the condition we could have it September 1st instead of the August date. They agreed. We tried to push it a little later afterward through our lawyer but they wanted an additional deposit and then a few hundred bucks a day so we abandoned that idea ;-) We have to be out of our current place by the end of September so while I wouldn't mind a couple of week delay.. if there is one I hope it doesn't go too much past that... *starts worrying about the permits* ;-)

lol! I know! when she said that about the permit I thought...Okay Town of Milton...We bought house, I'm happily contributing to your economy (I'm quite friendly with the ladies at Starbucks!!)....now 'permit' me! Apparently when they start construction, M sends you a postcard. I sort of wanted to know before that if we are or are not going to be on time. September would also be fine for us, though we don't want to run much later. Purely for the anticipation factor. No fun having an awesome back deck to break in with beer on the move in day.....in December.

if that's the case don't worry about it... we'll go gather up some scrap wood that's around, go to our frozen over mud pit in front of the house and have a bonfire to keep us warm while we drink our beers ;-)

I think from what was being said earlier (ya I went through all the pages before I posted for the first time) all the lots are now sold... actually I should know, we bought the last one!

I'm sure some of the owners are not on this forum..... It was almost by fluke I discovered it actually! glad I did though, I've read up on SOOOOO much info already

That would be a wicked gift for sure! Happy Pre-Bday!

Ya I have no idea who my next door neighbours are... don't think they found this forum out yet either...

Hello everyone who recently joined the thread (Ed and Sharon, Michele and Amanda and, Lisa and Paul)It is great to virtually meet all of you. Welcome to the forum. I am Andrea the unofficial documentor of the building of our street. I take alot of pictures when i am up there and would be happy to take of you lots once they have started to dig. I just remember when I bought my house there weren't very many people who would post pics of thier townhomes inside or outside. I remember being starved for pictures of my model and thought that when mine is started I am going to take lots of pictures and post them for others who have bought my model to see. It is a public service. :)
My friend Heather (who will live over on Gleave Terrace)is the one who posted the map of our street before with all the names. I will have to work on updating the map with her and get it posted again.

When is everyone going to the site again? I am going tomorrow of course to check on the progress.

Will post what pictures I take. Talk to you all soon :D

April, I am totally excited now. i have just over a month and a half to go and am getting organized for the move. I have to start packing up my room at my parents place and book some movers. I have no idea who to get for that. I haven't bought any furniture yet. I am going to wait until I get in there first.

Thanks for the warm welcome Andrea, it's nice to "virtually meet" you as well. I guess since Sharon and I were the last to purchase, we'll probably be the last to move in :( .... we're super stoked, and can't wait

Thanks so much for taking pictures and for the updates.. like I said, I went through all 18 pages before I joined up and posted and I could tell you were taking charge!

If you don't have a lot of stuff it might be better just to get a Van (we're lucky we got friends with Vans) and just move the essentials... then again we didn't have much stuff to move either into our tiny 1BR condo we're currently in.

Thanks Ed,

I somehow don't think a van is going to work. I have a storage locker filled to the rafters plus what is at my parents house. I know I have too much stuff but what can I say.

I am glad you were able to make it through all 18 pages. So you and Sharon have seen how far we have come from way back in Octorber. (that is when this thread started) I had been waiting since January to start a thread for our street but never knew what the street was going to be called. For a while there we were street AZ and lane F. I kind of like our street name now. It has grown on me. Now if I could just figure out if our mailing address was going to be with Gate or Lane that would be great. Mattamy says it is Gate but the Canada Postal service says Magurn Lane when you try to look up the postal code. :?

thanks for the updates Andrea! looks like our place doesn't even have a foundation yet :( ... a nice little lake there though :P

Ya, now that I'm thinking about it, a Van wouldn't really work for us either... when we moved into our condo we didn't have any "BIG" furniture... we bought a 5 piece couch set, and that'll probably need a truck, and of course our king size bed will need a bigger truck too... but not too much more, we're planning on doing a lot of new stuff once we move in.

You guys are going to have so much fun planning and shopping for your new home. My only suggestion is to wait until you get in and see where what you have is going to fit and when decorating go one room at a time.

That was the best advice given to me when I bought my condo in 2002, and it worked out great.

I heard picking out stuff at the design centre can be a nightmare

that's great advice... really, now at our condo we only have ONE room lol... so it was easy... I guess it's a good problem to have since we can start from scratch and buy all new stuff, but will definitely cost a lot :(
