We went by our lot today and we had some things that we weren't impressed with like... the walls all have notes on them that they are not level, whoever installed some of our ductwork was lazy and didn't run it in a straight line, the duct for one of out bathrooms is banged up.

BUT we're absolutely DEVASTATED: they installed our 3-piece rough in. In every model of our house there was enough room to put in a double bed so we intended to have guests stay there and have their own bathroom but where they put it, we'll be lucky if we can put in a single bed. We are so upset I want it moved or I don't want to the house.
What is the point if the house doesn't meet our needs and we're forced to move?!?! This is not the house we signed up for, it's completely ruined our house it makes that section of our basement absolutely useless and we don't have a guest bed!!

Wasn't the rough-in marked on your floor plan? Also that is not to hard to move later when you do your basement. If the walls are marked not level then I am sure somebody is going to come back and fix them.

Go speak to the the Site Supervisors, they seem like really nice guys and should help you out... Just relax, because you still have to move in regardless... :)

Hey Everyone.

So, I took a couple pictures on Sunday standing infront of my lot. The series shows the progress from the view of lot 139 on pringle avenue (if you have the map, if will give you an idea of the lots captured in the images. Just for anyone who might not be able to make it there :P

Hi Buttafly,

I read that you are closing on June 23. We have a unit in Phase 1A with original closing June 23, 09 now delayed to July 23, 09. I visited the site and there is nothing much on ground.

Closing is just 10 weeks away.

Do you think they shall be abe to meet the July deadline? We are quite excited about moving but do not see much progress.

Falam

on page one where she has listed all the lots and closings, it says she isnt closing until december 2009.....

When we left after visiting our house on Friday night the security guard was actually setting up the blockade and had to hold up one of the boards so we could leave. LOL- so I gave a big smile and wave. I definitely want to stay friends with them!!
I wouldn't have been impressed to drive all the way to Milton to not get to see our house though...
Did you try both entrances?

richard and i went this morning... around 10:30am. Maybe he just finished his coffee, but he was really nice to us... gave us a huge smile and 2 WAVES! lol. The entrance wasnt blocked off and he didnt seem angry to see us there. We have spoken to him a couple times before when we were there, so maybe he recognized our faces.... but I cant imagine them not allowing purchasers to visit their home during construction. I think they block it off for "hooligans."

I believe he block's if off at night, because there has been a lot of theft, these thief's are not taking little things like wood and extra brick. They are after big ticket items like furnaces, fireplaces, windows and granite. I know he will let you walk to the home he just does not let vehicles in past 5pm.

We went today around 8:30PM and we noticed it was blocked. We went under the rope and we were going to go for a walk down Pringle to see our spot, but the security guard was quick to get to us and tell us it's "Closed", whatever that means. I guess there are open and close hours for the great outdoors. We told him we had a lot there and we weren't going to go into any houses, we just want to go for a walk, and it's safe since there are no workers running around. He said "no" and that we have to go during the week before 4PM. I was pissed, considering last time I purchased something I didn't have a security guard telling me I can't see it. Imagine that, I bought groceries today and I'm about to eat something and a security guards says "no, it's closed, come back before 4 during the week." Difference between normal purchases and this one, is that it's a 6 digit purchase. I think I should have more say when I can see my home. I get it, he is doing his job, but there should be some sort of procedure where we can show some sort of I.D or proof we are an owner and he can let us by. I think he was just being lazy to and getting ready for his nap.

I know what you mean. It upsets me that we pay all this money and they try to avoid us from checking on the purchase we made to confirm its being made right, to take pictures, to be excited, etc. Its kind of ridiculous.

I dont think they are even thinking of people stealing at this point though, there is nothing on the land to even take right now. granite, tiles, cabinets, etc wont be in the houses until the locks are on the doors.

They do not want anyone on the site that is not a worker regardless if you spent 6 digits on your house. Comparing buying a house to buying groceries is not the same thing. It is not your house until closing. There is huge liability so thats is why security is telling you that you are not allowed on the site.

Actually, there is a huge sign on pringle coming in from scott that says this exact thing

Money has nothing to do with it. When you fall and hurt yourself and try to sue mattamy, it will be your money that is paying their lawyers. Anyway, its the law. The OHSA & Regulations dictates what they are suppose to do. Last I checked, the security guard is not a mattamy employee, he doesn't give a crap what you do.

Hey, I'm just as guilty as the next guy, I want to se my house to as it gets built, but Mattamy has no obligation to let anyone on site during or after working hours. Actually, its in their best interest leagally.

Then seems like you are saying the same thing as I am saying. Legally they have that right, but we both have broken that right and we really want to see our place. I just hope that people that enter at their own risk and get hurt aren't ignorant and try to sue, because I know I won't. BUT, it's inconsistent when some security guards let you by and some don't. I did say earlier "i get it", but there needs to be some sorty of consistency.

Agreed!
