RobB - Wow this is awesome!!! You are the man of the hour bringing such great news!!!

A SPLASH PAD please don't be kidding! That is awesome.

Ed - Re. rates I've got a locked in rate of 4 year fix 3.84% with 1% cash back thats through Christina from TD she's on this forum. Re. appliances I bit the bullet and bought a few weeks ago couldn't resist anymore. Who's your connect though?

hahah YOU'RE interested in the splash pad aren't you? lol if it's a hot enough day, I'll be running through it too! there's one by our condo and it looks so refreshing

That's an amazing rate... how did you guys lock it for more than 120 days? either way, that's a great rate for sure... where did you end up getting your appliances? my guy is at Futureshop... although I still need to do a bit more research on which ones to get etc....

Thanks for the update Rob... I'm glad everything went well with your framewalk... so all in all it only took about 30-40 mins eh? so these new features that they think will help with the cold floor is definitely being implemented on all the new maintstreet places eh? I guess time will tell if what they've done has really made a difference... I'm OK with cooler as well. In fact, in the summer time, I prefer to be at least 3-4 degrees cooler than my wife, and in the Winter time, I don't mind being cooler considering she thinks it's healthy to live in "Sauna atmosphere"

Tony - Not kidding, that's what it is... :)

Ed - Ya it was short, but again I only had a small list of stuff that I was concerned about and didn't need to do any picture taking or measurements and stuff... And I'm TOTALLY with you about the bottom floor being cooler. I'm using ours as an office so if it's a few degrees cooler I'm as happy as a clam.

Rob, it was so awesome meeting you yesterday, sorry if I scared you! OMG...A SPLASHPAD???? I knew they were building one at the park between the elementary schools but WOW, now there's one in front of our house!? This is the BEST NEWS EVER!!! I'm so glad your framewalk went well. We have ours on Thursday, eventhough the insulation & drywall will probably be up by then. Hopefully it will go as well as yours.

ohhh please... what are you apologizing for!?! It was hysterical... and it was great to finally meet you both :)

ya I figured you would like to hear the splashpad news... definitely gonna make the kids happy come next summer :)

they were already starting to clean up your house this morning when I was there, maybe they'll have it all neat and tidy by this weekend...

Soooooooooooo I went by there tonight... still lots of work going on... including the park area, and they're building a structure and it don't look like a friggin splash pad to me.... maybe whoever is up next for their frame walk (April and Joel?) can hassle Ryan to find out exactly what it is.... anyone? anyone? bueller?

We were talking about this here earlier and Joel asked me about it when we met, but this is the product I was talking about for "upgrading" from carpet stairs after the fact:

http://www.eztread.com/

They have an online ordering site at http://www.acmestairs.com (it's in the states but they do ship up here)

There was a Canadian site I was looking at as well but for the life of my I can't seem to find it.. anyway I was just doing some quick googling today and there are similar products up here as well, just nothing I could find with prices online which is why I posted those... On the cheap end you're talking under $50 US a step for oak so even with shipping and duty and stuff you'd probably still be under half of the 3000 Mattamy was asking us per staircase... Apparently you can do with hardwood flooring as well.. something I'll be asking my hardwood guy when we do that...

Doesn't look like a splashpad to me.. but not a bad lil play set for the kids... see what else the park holds when they move the dirt pile... Hopefully April and Joel will get some more info for us tomorrow.

Guess who's house now officially has walls *cough*TonyStella*cough*

And a couple of our official Mattamy lots signs have started being posted :)

Didn't have time to get any more because I ran into April and Joel's other neighbor today... George... newlywed couple, no kids, first house, so that's one less mystery house ;-)

thanks for the pics Rob.... The park LOOKS so far away in those pictures... it's a huge park so I'm sure they'll have plenty of room for that splash pad...

did they have an actual scheduled "closing" day for the park? like it should be done (sod included) before winter?

It's supposed to be done next month actually... that's what they were saying at the mattamy u thing... and I don't think that's gonna be much of a problem the way they're moving...

Thank you for the pictures of the park, Rob. I can't believe how fast they've built this park. I was there last Thursday evening and the land was still just dirt even if it was cleared up. Mattamy is in the least efficient.

Thanks for the updated pics Rob. Yep, the park looks pretty cool, I especially love the ladybug. Oh my....what a horrible day for a frame walk! First, we got there on time @ 10am & waited in front of our garage door for Ryan to show up. Pouring rain...MUD EVERYWHERE!!! These two guys show up & walk in & out of your house Rob. Then one of them yells at us, "Start on the second floor ceiling, the inspector is coming soon" ....WHAT??? Start on the second floor ceiling? What is he talking about??? So we decided to go into our house & wait anyway. Waiting, waiting, waiting... & finally Ryan shows up...same guy that yelled at us to start on the second floor ceiling. He thought we were the drywallers. Hahaha...do I look like a drywaller to you??? Anyhow he took us throughout the house & explained everything. Very nice guy, I thought that our walk would be about 30min, but it ended up lasting around an hour or so. He even took us to Doug's lot to show us the difference with a drywalled home. There were some mistakes that were caught, thank goodness for the framewalk, hopefully they will be corrected, he didn't have a pen on him, just hope he remembers. I had a million & one questions for him & totally forgot to ask about the splashpad...sorry Rob, I know I promised to ask...but it totally slipped my mind. I'll try & call the trailer tomorrow & see if they have a solid answer about the village square. WHEW... Thank goodness it's all over!

I wouldn't worry about it... Judging by what's going on I think that construction worker dooode was wrong and there is no splash pad... Least not where I can see one. Ya I went by last night and I was thinking to myself what a crappy day for a frame walk for you guys, but it sounds like other than that it was good for you guys :) How the hell they mistook YOU of all people for a drywaller I don't know though ;-) Did they start drywalling your place?

No need for the splash pad Rob. I've went to the trouble of hooking up a garden hose in the garage. Just come on by and I'll ya down! :P

hahahahaha Reg has a good idea... we'll just yank out our garden hoses and make our own splash pad... hell get some tarps, lay them on the sidewalk and make a giant slip n slide while we're at it ;-)
