For sure go with the rounded corners. We've probably had more compliments on that than on any other feature of our house. Like others have said, there are so many places in this model that take advantage of it (the coffered ceilings in great room & foyer, media niche downstairs, bookcase niches in the upstairs window seat, storage niche in bath, all the untrimmed doorways, etc) that it's such a noticeable feature and at the price it's a steal.

Re. the mirrored image layouts, I think those of you who got it with the Juneberry are lucky! Two reasons we'd have preferred ours to be mirrored: (1) the car that's parked nearest the porch is a pretty tight squeeze at the drivers side ... would be nicer with the mirror image since you can always let the passenger out first if you want to pull up tight to the garage, and (2) if you switch the washer/dryer in a mirror image layout the washer would be on the far wall ... would make it nicer re. leaving the washer door open without worrying about hitting it with the laundry room door. Just don't forget to specify that they switch the washer/dryer hookup locations for you.

hmmm.
We were wondering about trim with the rounded corners. Do the rounded corners go right to the floor and if so, how does the trim get a tight fit at the corners?
As for the laundry room, we got the laundry room door to swing out into the hall so as not to create such an obstacle in the laundry room. Anyone see this being a problem?

The rounded corners do go right to the floor. The baseboards get a tight fit ... not exactly sure how they do it but it looks like there might be a bit of putty or something where the baseboard corners meet to allow them to square off nicely.

I wouldn't recommend having the laundry room door swing outward. IMO it's better to switch the hinge so that it opens against the tub instead of the washer/dryer. It's nice being able to keep the laundry room door open when doing lots of loads over the weekend, and if the door swung out it would be a pain. Plus, the back of the door is a handy place for storage which you would lose if you had it swinging outward ... we have our central vac hose and attachments hung there (we upgraded to the wood core door), and it's a perfect out-of-the-way spot for them.

Looks like everyone is having their appointments and that many decisions are being made on upgrades! Can't believe that 6 months have passed since this whole process started!

Andrea: Good luck over the next week and please let us know the great news when your little one arrives! I myself have 3 months to go so its all coming up very quickly. Tomorrow we are packing up our basement to get a head start....figure it will be more difficult later with a little baby around.

Amy: We did not go with the round corners. Although I like the look of them, it was not a must for us. It is a personal preference.

We had our final colour appointment this past week so we are all done with house decisions :) We added several new upgrades that we were initially not planning on doing:
1) fireplace fan kit - since we are putting a tv above the fireplace we were told its good to get this so the hot air is circulated away into the room vs. rising up to the tv. My parents have this feature and it spreads the heat much better, warms the room quicker and should save some heating costs. Downside is that you will hear the fan come on sometimes.
2) ensuite soaker tub removable handheld shower head - is a very practical feature as it will make cleaning the tub easier and will come in handy for rinsing. Downside is the cost.

Our design consultant mentioned that the plan on Vista 3 is to break ground on May 1st! Apparently they will put all the houses foundations down at once. Let's wait and see if this actually happens.

Good idea. We had to call our parents over to help watch our kid when we were packing. Do as much as you can before the little one arrives.

We did all our selections but may have to adjust a couple things here and their. We've seen houses with and without the rounded corners. I'm still not sold on them. I like the clean lines of the straight edges.

Hey everyone.
Anyone interested in another neighbour outing before the summer hits?
I'm thinking maybe Saturday, June 5th or 12th.
Let me know if you might be interested and which date would work best for you and I'll send out an email with the details soon.

Hey guys, had the day off and went by the site, lamp post are in and so are the green transformer boxes. 1 box is against the woodlot on the outer ring and 2 green boxes are on the inner ring, but not sure which lots. Cogeco boxes and rear sewers are in as well. Land was also leveled. Excuse the picture, cheap cell cam...

Awesome, #1. Thanks for posting the pic.
We were just there a week ago and the green boxes were in but not the lights. I like the light.
I know one of the green boxes on the inner circle is in front of lot #16, the hydrant is in front of #18.

As for the next gathering, it looks like June 12th works the best. Although I should probably check with my dear husband since I haven't mentioned it to him yet and he never checks this site :) I'll send out an email when it's confirmed. Anyone have any preferences or ideas for location?
And if you have not given me your email address before, please PM if you want to be added to the invite.

I have the lamp post, a Cogeco box and the mail box just south of our driveway. I'm sure I'll be bumping into all you guys when you get your mail :P

Nothing wrong with the lamp post, helps light up your front lawn

Btw Amy, we went with the rounded corners unexpectedly. We found out the arch door ways were rounded, so we wanted the rest of the house to match...

Have they started construction yet? I thought it was supposed to be May 1st.

Does anyone know if we will be having pre-construction meetings?

I emailed the cusomer care co ordinator about this but no response from an email sent 4 days ago

My DC said June excavation and July for foundations...

And seeing as the World Cup is coming in June, we could be delayed even further...

Looks like we are going with the included, just to tear it up all in the entire house and do the hardware on the main floor ourselves, then upstairs and have it installed by Alexanians or some other place.

You can use the included carpet in the basement after you tear it up for temp use...

No baby for us on the way yet, but congrats to Andrea and Angelo.

For anyone who is interested in TFC tickets, let me know, I have seasons with some friends, and often they sell their tickets.

Sylvain has seasons as well...you guys could swap seats for different vantage points\experience etc...
