i don't quite remember much about the lots behind us, although i do recall lots 69 & 70 are vacant as well. Still trying to find 76 & 73.

Well, 69 isn't so vacant any more :) It will become a beautiful Harris Bay Elevation A house on October 20, 2009 - at least so we're told - and we've got a shiny pen, too :) Glad to meet our new neighbours!

You guys are scaring me!!! There's no way my wallet will allow me to spend that much on upgrades...oh my...what to do, what to do...

Relax, it's the bank's money :P

You guys are in a different situation.. we bought after (actually jen and I bought on the day they changed the damn policy) they changed the policy so that ALL upgrades require 35% down. You can't just tack it onto your mortgage anymore without the deposit.

Welcome, welcome to the neighbourhood.

It is so nice to meet you. I am Andrea and I am down the street from you(I think). Are you facing the park or are you on the side of Magurn Gate. I am on Magurn Gate

Nice to meet you neighbour.

Rob/ Andrea, is there still a 35% deposit for upgrades? When we recieved our welcome package they crossed that portion out... I'm confused :?

I scanned it, but I have no idea how to post the picture on this forum...still confused :?

They changed the deposit thing which is probably why the crossed it out. It used to be only after a certain amount you had to pay it. Now it's across the board 35% on every upgrade which is part of the reason we picked carefully for stuff that we could only get through Mattamy.

ooohhhh...thanks for the info...I guess I should start saving huh?!

hahahaha... ya... more info is they'll let you split it up, you don't have to pay it all the day of your appointment(s). think as long as it's all paid before 4 months from your delivery date it's cool.

Nice to meet you Andrea. We are the second row from the park, which means that we are between the Lane and the Gate.

I blew 29k on my Castlegate upgrades. It was hard to keep things reasonable but I like to live posh.

I am supposed to be going back to the DC as the cabinet supplier has changed since I finalized everything in October.

Anyways I will be the odd ball on the block. I'm single, 26 and NO kids. I'll apologize in advance now and will try to keep the noise down! :P

Oh Reg,
I am feeling you on that one. The living posh and all. I would like to say that I kept things at a minimum as I had planned when we first met but I think I might have to rob a bank to pay for the 35+ K I spent on my Rothmill.

Okay can I be nosey and ask you what you upgraded in your Castlegate :?: :D

Good luck with your selection at the DC.

It's a long list! Oak stairs & stain, granite counters, finished laundry room, all tiles are upgraded and most on a 45, pot lights throughout and the list goes on. I find it's the many little things that add up just as much as the few big ticket items. I am still miffed that I spent 30k and didn't get hardwood. I suppose this way I have a fun project once I get in there.

You didn't do the hardwood? I had too. I know I originally planned to wait to do it after closing but I am impatient and felt it would be to difficult to do the kitchen afterwards. (removing the ceramic tile and all). Plus I had the 1500 in dc upgrades since I bought my appliances over the holidays and you know I just love to shop and spend money so I splurged!! :D

Mattamy charges a lot for hardwood. I worked out some number sand found that Mattamy was charging between $10-12 per square foot. I can buy MUCH nicer materials than that of which Mattamy offers for $4-6/sf and install it myself. Even if I paid $3-4/sf for an installer I'm coming out ahead and with a nicer wood & finish.

I know how convenient it is to have the builder install hardwood as my two feet are planted on it as I type this. I also know how much I could have saved the first time around!

Yep... totally with you Reg.. I went and talked to a couple of hardwood guys in town and they offered me a better quality hardwood installed for roughly 66% of what Mattamy would charge me... so this time around we are doing the hardwood after we move in....

Sorry for the lousy picture quality, snapped it with my iPhone this morning, but block 185 (and 186) your slabs have been poured and your materials delivered so it would appear building on your units will be starting very shortly :)

Rob,
Thanks for the update. I went up there yesterday as well but in the late afternoon. I can't wait to be walking through the first floor of my house next week.

I also took some pictures. Here they are

These are lots 185- 01-03

Hi guys, I think they have started digging for the mainstreet detached. I am not sure what lot it is but it seems like it is the ones beside my block. the first and second lot. I have no idea who bought those lots. I don't beleive we have met them yet. I hope we meet them soon.
