The proposed name of Street AD is SALES CRESCENT. Also, Street AE is proposed to be McJanet Street. So directions to our street shall be: Derry W, left on Savoline, right on McJanet, right on Sales Crescent! Now, who are my future neighbours? LOT# and Model please |

thanks! What street are you on? Strret AU? AX? I can see if I can find out. Whats your LOT#? Just remember, these names could change if the town has an issue with them or Mattamy decides to go with some of Zeeshan's recommendations?? (its confusing when u refer to someone else with same 1st name. Its like speaking in the 3rd person:) |

I'm actually right on Scott, so my street is no mystery. But since my closing is so far away (June 09) finding fun new house things helps make the waiting easier. I'm Lot 90-1. Hi neighbours! |

Hi everyone. Sorry about the name Zee-shan but Sales is an old Milton family name (there is eight Sales listed in the milton area phone book) as well as Mc Candless and other names in the phase. Scott Blvd. is named after the family which owned the farm which Heathwood Homes bought on the south side of Main Street. Street names, parks and facilities are named through the Town name bank (check milton.ca) where you can submit names which are reviewed by Town staff and a naming committee with help from the Milton Historical Society. There is several books in the Library on Milton and also for sale at Harris Stationary on Main Street beside Knox Church written by members of the Historial Society over the years, which can make interesting reading of what the town was like in the past. Also the 1877 Halton County Atlas lists all the farm owners in all of Halton at that time. Street signs with poppy's on them denote veterans who served. You can see where many of the street names come from through reading these books as well as local mayors, councillors, citizen's of the year and former provincial and federal members of parliment ie. Philbrook etc. Prime Ministers, Premiers and Governor Generals are also found in some areas. (no there was no political connations of Clark and Trudeau intersecting, but I hear there might have been some with Harris Blvd. and Pearson Way going in opposite directions north and south of Main Street just east of Bishop Reding High School) Colin Best Local & Regional councillor Wards 2 & 4. colin.best@milton.ca There is a Best Drive off Caldwell and Armstrong Blvd. which is about 100 metres long and has no homes fronting on it! Actually it's named after my father Brian Best a former mayor from 1967-73 as well as the park off Commercial Street which was the landfill site at the time when the council of the day named it. My family has always wondered what Council was thinking about him when they named it. |

Hi Tech Monkey Yes actually we have two Campbell Avenues (no they are not named after Kim Campbell but Peter Campbell the founder of Campbellville) The Milton Campbell Avenue is a dead end street west of the main entrance into E.C. Drury School off Ontario Street. The Campbellville Campbell Avenue runs east -east off Main Street or Guelph Line in downtown Campbellville and joins up east with #5 Sideroad and west changes into Campbellville Side Road. The former fire chief did make a recommendation to change the name of the Milton Campbell Avenue but Council has not dealt with it yet. One Prime Minister's name you will NOT find in either Halton or Peel is John Diefenbaker thanks to his cancellation of the Avro Arrow project which threw 250 Milton workers out of work (check February 25 1959 edition of the Canadian Champion) that's out of a town of 4000 people at the time! Colin Best Local & Regional Councillor Wards 2 & 4 colin.best@milton.ca check out the new Town web site milton.ca I'm the guy sitting next to the Mayor in the center of the council chamber photo during an Administration & Planning Committee meeting. |
