Just as an update I received regarding this development.

There are apartment(s) proposed for that site at the south west corner of Derry and Fourth Line but the town hasnt received an application yet for site approval or building permit. Right now theres no way to confirm if it will be rental units or condo's.

I'll be contacting the owners of the property to find out what/if any plans they have.

I'll keep you posted.

Here is a link to the copy of the bylaw passed by council in 2007 regarding the proposed uses for this land owned by Summerwood Estates.

http://www.milton.ca/execserv/bylaws200 ... states.PDF

On page three it has a diagram of the areas zoned. You will notice some greenbelt located along Fourth Line south of Derry and the residential high density and medium density zones for the apartment/condos and homes.

In the Champion Tim reported that Summerwood had applied to Halton for waste management water etc for this area to encompass approx 540 homes and apartments which you can see on the map...preliminary mind you... where its all going to go.

As we all know, plans change on a daily basis but this is whats out there so far.

This request goes out to Colin, Rick, Zeeshan, Mike and Andrew to please keep us up to date with this project as it progresses...

Again, I just want that the town does proper studies on the affects of continuing traffic build-up on fourth line before they approve any plans...

Just wondering about the sidewalk issue on 4th Line....we spoke to the Town today and apparently sidewalks will be started on the west side of Fourth Line, starting just south of the gas pipeline all the way up to Menefy Place (Country Homes).

However, there are no immediate plans for a sidewalk from Menefy Place north to Derry Road. Also, there are no plans for a sidewalk on the east side of Fourth Line from south of the pipeline up to Beaty Trail.

There is a lot of pedestrian (joggers, strollers etc.) and road traffic on Fourth Line (without the school and the day care being open yet), so I am wondering how safe it will be walking north to Derry. We already take our life into our hands just walking along Fourth Line to get our mail on Menefy Place.

Apparently, there will be no further sidewalks put in until the developer starts working on the new culvert over the creek (prior to the new condo development going in).

Since none of the permits for the new development are approved or in place, is there anything that can be done to get the sidewalks in earlier for the safety of the residents in this area??

We want best candidates to represent us but we do not want to pay them salaries to attract them. $26,000 for a councillor? no wonder most of the council is reitred. young and energetic ppl cant afford it unless they are too passionate. i suspect pay is why zee isnt going for the regional council. when we last asked him he said something about focus and having to balance all demands. a decent pay allows other councillors (like peel councillors) to work fulltime instead.

I can speak only for myself but Im not that intrigued by the salary of the position but for the work that needs to be done. It is a part time position in hours and I know full well councillors dont "work" part time hours. That shouldnt be the first consideration for the position.

The developer is Summerwood Estates and the last address I had for them was in Mississauga. They havent responded yet to my letter/email I sent a few weeks back. Its on my radar and as soon as I hear back from them or the town...I'll keep everyone posted.
