Post subject:  Advanced Greens

Good morning, I have another question here, which I assume is for Colin.

It's a 2 parter.

First, I believe the intersection of Trafalgar and Lower Base Line is a regional one? How do we start the process of getting that traffic light upgraded to include an advanced green signal for south bound commuters, who are turning left to travel east bound on Lower Base Line? Is that something you can help get rolling?

Most mornings during rush hour, it can take several cycles of that light changing before a left turn can be completed.

Part 2. Regarding the light at Britannia and 6th Line.

I was wondering if you are to elaborate on the discussion that occurred to have that light upgraded to include an advanced green option?

I know that light was placed there in anticipation of extra traffic coming from the Derry Rd construction, but it never came to fruition. The extra traffic comes down 5th Line instead.

So why spend the money to upgrade that light? With due respect, if you are travelling east bound on Britannia, it's because you are leaving Milton, not looking for an express route back into it. I'd be willing to bet that no more than a small handful of people a day ever make a left turn there to go north on 6th Line.

Hi Martin

Will pass on your concerns to the regional traffic staff to check out. The Town and Region do traffic counts at intersections annually and make changes where there is traffic increases similar to Thompson and Britannia where an advanced green light was installed this spring due to similar counts and requests from area drivers.

Will let everyone know the resulat as soon as possible.

I see this has now been installed at this intersection. Not sure if you had a hand in it, Colin, or if it was already in the process of being taken care of?

Either way, thanks.
