How did Colangelo expect Triano to win games when he was instructed by the GM to give all the young players extended minutes in order to speed up their development (eg. DeMar DeRozan Ed Davis, James Johnson, Jerryd Bayless, etc). Jay did what was asked of him by the GM and no one should be surprised at the awful win/loss record. That being said, all the young players did improve over the course of the season, DeRozan and Davis especially, all under Jay's watch. It's unfortunate that Jay was never given a competitive roster of players to work with, I think he is a far better coach than his win/loss record shows...
i agree that Triano is a good coach- usa basketball hired him so thats a pretty good compliment- but even the year before when they had Bosh and a very good chance of making the playoffs they still had the worst "D" in the league. i believe he was a lame duck coach last year just for the purpose you mentioned, and then the idea all along was to make a change after the season. this guy they got shut down Miami in the fianls... im excited to see some improvement this year- if youre not gonna win, at least COMPETE...
