Does anyone know of a Hockey Skills school in Milton for 6 year olds. My daughter started Timbits this year and wants to be the best skater.

I know of a few in Burlington and Oakville but they will be tough to get to.

If she wants to be the best skater, why not power skating? The Milton Skating Club has either PrePower or CanPower depending on where your daughter fits. It's full equipment, so the teach hockey skills, with the focus being on improving skating. They are about 3 or 4 weeks into lessons at this point, but you can start up in Jan as well.

My daughter is 5 and in the timbit program as well. My best advice is to just keep taking her to the practices and the games. My daughter has come a long way in the past few weeks alone.
I help with practices and I find with this age group, you have to let them progress naturally. You show them basic skills but it just takes practice, practice, practice and time with these young ones. They are sponges and learn quickly too.
Personally I think you're sending her the wrong message if you encourage this 'wanting to be the best' attitude at this age. It's about having fun, not being the best with this age group. But hey, that's just me.

The only thing I have been encouraging is every time she goes out to have the most fun possible.

I'm not going to persuade her not to be competitive and improve when she asks me after practice it she and I can go skating the next day so she can get faster. Trust me, I'm the father that stands near the end of the rink and just enjoys watching them learn, not push.

Thanks for the tip on the pre power. She started in the Canskate and I didn't know about this program. She starts in Jan and is very excited.
