I did it - to get conduit piping to run wires - and wish I hadn't. Just ended up being a pain in the ass. I couldn't get my HDMI cable to run through it properly, purchased a fish tape from Home Depot, still was a pain in the ass. For the money I spent, I would have just requested an installer to come in and run the wire and be done with it once and for all.
Is this upgrade worth it? Mattamy is asking for $167 for the plasma ready wall on our great room. How much would this cost to get a contractor to do it after closing? Would appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this one. Thanks in advance !
This is what it says on our upgrade list:
Install Framing for wall mounted tv in specified location. includes relocation of existing cable, an additional receptacle beside relocated cable outlet,
additional support framing for future installation of wall mount tv and conduit to specified locations.
trust me just get them to do it - i am so regretting not having them do it. I fished cable through a wall for fun in my old home and decided hey ill just do it again...i spent three days getting it setup and ended up ripping dry wall out. I know you may not go as extreme as i did but couple hundred bucks is more then worth it....installer will charge in and around the same but the feeling of walking into a new home and having this done already is worth it...anyways thats my thought on the matter.
