We have purchased a Shady Glen Elevation B and have asked our design consultant to swicth the locations of the sink and the dishwasher to clear the counter space around the breakfast bar, which will allow for a large serving area and to allow people to stand on both sides of it without any obstructions in the way.

We have seen this already done in a Shady GLen elevation B and we very impressed with the change

Our design consultant has told us that this is not possible because this phase of houses is being built with "pre engineered floor boards"

Can somebody tell me about how the use of "pre engineered floorboards" has anything to do with this change and who I can talk to about getting this change actually made

I planning on doing this too.

Power in numbers.

I also plan on pushing them about the drain in the laundry room but don't think they will budge on that one.

The issue was actually Engineered Floor Joists, not floor boards.

Which clearly makes a lot more sense

Anyways after speaking with Kim Cronk as was recommended in an earlier post, I was told there was no way that this change was possible.

All modifications to floor joists is being done off site and that kitchen modifications were no longer being offered after phase 13

I had a lengthy conversation with her and was comfortable in knowing there was nothing more that I could do and accepted that this change was no longer possible

Then, earlier this week, I received a call from our design consultant and was told that under her own initiative (she wasn't aware I spoke with Kim Cronk) she spoke with the architect and the change was accepted. We are just awaiting the paper work, but have been told that this change will be made to our kitchen

We switched the locations of the sink and the dishwasher, this way the sink is no longer in the breakfast bar counter top

We are still awaiting final pricing to make the change, we have been told that it will tentatively be a couple hundred dollars
