Hi Christy & Andy, We closed on our semi this past february. we wanted to create an opening from our entrance into our kitchen and had seen this done in other homes that were the same model as ours. When we went for our structural appointment we were told this couldn't be done. we went back and forth for weeks but were still told we couldn't do it. moral of the story, be prepared to live with what the original layout is, because there is a chance that mattamy just won't make the change. however...to be honest, we are both happy that we didn't end up making the change that we originally wanted. we would have lost a lot of cupboard and counter space in the kitchen. good luck! |

Unlike Michelle we were able to create a big opening between to rooms...We are in Phase 13 This is what we did Extended the opening between kitchen and great room to 9 feet 6 inches wide for 264.95. We also changed to layout of our kitchen from U shaped to L shaped. this cost us 160.50 to move the plumbing of the sink, 385.00 for the additional base cabinets we needed and 568.00 for the additional upper cabinets we needed. Larger basement windows 214.00 each Basement Bathroom Rough in 604.55 conduit for future wiring 193.00 the above were all considered "Structural" Changes and Upgrades...However, saying all that i have heard that past Phase 13 they would no longer accomodate changes to the kitchen layout as we did... Hope this helps |
