I know where the sidewalks are for English mill, Connought, and Whitney, but unfortunately not your street. It's pretty easy to find out though, just contact the Milton Planning department. The lady who answers the phone's name is Charlene. She was great and will direct you to the right place.

Also, if you wouldn't mind sharing. What was the premium for the lots backing onto the buffer?

Can you share the sidewalk info for Whitney Terrace?

Also, to answer your question about the premiums on the "channel", they were $35k last Sat for those who purchased 43's. Not sure what that would translate into for the 30's or 36's on Clitherow.

Thanks!

Thanks! We're interested in a 43 foot lot as well. Which model/elevation did you choose?

In terms of sidewalks, the sidewalk is suppose to be on the south side of Whitney Terrace (Lots77,76,75,74 etc). The planning department told me that this isn't 100% official, though they aren't expecting it to change. I'm guessing based on your username that you're lot 74. If so, when facing your house, your driveway will be on the left side according to the plans.

Thank you very much for sharing the info!! We are neutral about the sidewalk situation; pros and cons to it. What irks me is the mirror image house. Happened to us with our current home. We've always felt like our home looked weird with the garage on the left. Maybe we've been staring at the plans for too long

Our home will be the Angus (French Chateau). Which plan are you interested in? Good luck with the purchase/the race to get in line .

Ya we've been having the same debate. I really like lot 13, but it's also a mirror image and I guess I've spent to much time looking at the plan. Assuming I'm able to get that lot (or a similar one) I'm sure I'll get use to it though! We also love the French Chateau Elevation! We're hoping to get the Elmira (french chateau).

Also I forgot to mention, as per the plan, you don't appear to have an electrical box or fire hydrant!

Did you pick your model and elevation the same day you put your down payment down or at a later meeting?

Woohoo!! No fire hydrant = amazing! We currently have one next door to us, plus a sidewalk and small front lawn... becomes a challenge when shoveling snow.

The lots on Connaught are really nice! Nearly the entire street is 43's, it will be beautiful. I am already looking forward to seeing how the neighbourhood turns out. I hope you are able to get the lot you want! The Elmira is a beautiful home. Great layout and tons of space. Love the walk-in pantry. We have a similar pantry in our current home and love it. Our new home has a pantry which is a step outside of our kitchen... a sacrifice we made for a double garage. The French Chateau seems to be the nicest option for most of the homes. It's also the safest option in terms of the exterior package. Did you know that Mattamy does not give the home owners a choice in the colour package any longer? It becomes a real gamble when choosing some of the other elevations. The FS elevation will likely be beige or gray.

We did pick our model and elevation at the same time that we picked our lot. I'm not sure if we had to, but we knew what we wanted for months, it was just a matter of waiting on the email. They seemed a bit surprised at how quickly we picked things. We were in and out quite quickly. On Tuesday we had our appointment for architects options. In our previous purchase, those were also done same-day. I think they want things to move along more quickly on the sale date.

Keep me posted about the purchase! I hope you join the 'hood!

Ya fire hydrants can be tricky! I've heard that on at least the new streets in Milton you'll only be able to park on one side of the street. It'll be a pain for guests, but I guess good for overall traffic flow. You'll also be happy to know that it looks like your closest fire hydrant is lot 71 - far enough not to be a pain :) When is your closing date?

I'm also really interested in seeing how the neighbourhood turns out. We've walked around the building site a couple of times. It's excited to see all of the street signs going up! This will be our first house, so the whole process is a bit of an adventure! I noticed that your floor plan has a "stop and drop" as well. I've seen a few open houses with these and they always looks great! They add a bit of character.

I did hear about not getting to choose your exterior. That's actually a big reason why we chose to go with the FS. We had initially been thinking brick, but after driving around the area we found that we loved some of the brick houses, but others not so much. It's a big risk to take when spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Good luck with the building of your house! Let us know how your design centre appt goes!

Our closing date is March 30, 2016. The 3 lots they sold last weekend on Connaught had closings in early June, FYI. I would assume that the rest of that street will follow with closings throughout June and perhaps July.

Very exciting that this will be your first home :D! A tip for if you end up with a mirror image home, be specific at your design appointment about the layout of your laundry room. We requested that our washer and dryer not be as per plan, and be flipped like the house. When we went for our framewalk, it was still backwards. It was a minor battle, and we won because it was in writing. The doors for your machines will open to allow for easy transfer of laundry this way, rather than them opening against each other. We will make sure that it's done this way again for the new house.

It's a lot of fun going through the whole process. We are so excited to do it all again. We are really going to miss our neighbours here though, and hope we luck out again with this house. We haven't told them yet,.. and created a new user name for this forum to hide until we are ready to break the news .

I agree about the FC, it's too large of an investment to risk an ugly exterior. We did the same, drove around to check out different exteriors. Seeing red brick and green side together was enough to convince us to get the Chateau.

Did you attend the sale last Saturday? You know all about getting the email and running out the door like a crazy person, right? There's a definite strategy to this.

Hmmm I called the Sales Centre and they actually said that it's completely possible that the houses at the top of Connought will be earlier closing dates. It's so hard to predict. I'm really hoping that it's earlier rather than later because we're getting married in June 2016 so it would be nice to have the house by that time. We also want to do a tonne of upgrades after close, but before we officially move in *fingers crossed*

Wow, March! That's just over a year away. It won't be long before you're getting your design centre price list.

Thanks for the tip re: the laundry room. That would have never occurred to me!! Keep the tips coming :) We (well mostly me lol) are sooooo excited for the design centre part, and choosing upgrades after close! I'm finding that it's difficult to imagine what the house will look like from a floor plan. I wish I was one of those people who can visualize it.

I'm actually going to school out of province right now, so it'll be my fiancé who has to play the "run out the door like a crazy person" game! Poor guy! haha.
