Really interested in installing pocket doors in my home. I'm wondering if anyone happens to know if mattamy will install and how much it is. I have a friend who bought a branthaven home and they charge $200 per pocket door.

I think it depends on the model; I remember inquiring about having pocket dolls installed in my bathroom and Mattamy said no, but that was several years ago.

They Said no for us too, but that was about 5 years ago. Maybe now they offer them.

I would love to have a pocket door for my walk-in-closet! I will ask Mattamy to install. I hope they don't charge too much. I was also thinking of installing this type of door to one of my "flex spaces". This would make it more like a room or office. What do you guys think?

For retrofits, all the design shows seem to be flogging the barn style door (on rail). It doesn't have to look like a barn door though.

None of these are true pocket doors. To put in a pocket door the wall needs to be 6" not the usual 4" so a structural change is necessary. Even true pocket doors run on rails but you can't see them.

I know they aren't true pocket doors, but are a much more affordable alternative. You just let the builder put in the standard door entry and then alter it yourself or with a contractor.

Builders charge an arm & leg for upgrades like that.....not worth it.

Not necessarily. Like I mentioned in the first post Branthaven was charging $200 per pocket door which I think is reasonable.

Wow!.....that is very reasonable compared to pricing I've seen.
