While looking at some garages in the area I noticed some things. One the garage has been fully drywalled and insulated. From what I remember from my design meetings and the questions I had about the garage was Mattamy was only to do the inside walls and outside walls up to a certain point ie insulate/drywall till the porch. After that, the walls were left open & to be finished off by the owner. I guess we are getting something new as an upgrade. I also noticed that the doors to the garage had a retraction system. Also the door to the garage had a keyed entry knob (of which I already knew about).

The outside wall (garage door wall) was not insulated nor drywalled which I found both curious and irritating considering the little amount of work it would have taken to finish this off. Considering this is wall that meets the cold first why wouldn't they finish it off?

Not required by code if it does not border living space. It probably is a little amount of work and a few hundred dollars in costs. But multiply that by 400 houses per phase :)

It's all assembly line. My company packs out products on an contracted assembly line, and for every time the lineworkers have to 'touch' the product, it costs an extra 50 cents to a dollar. We do an average of 10000 at a time, and those little costs add up pretty darn quick on the larger scale.

Unfortunately, the same business is applied to houses. This is where builders can differ beyond just the floor plans. It's the little details here and there.
