Hi all,
Wondering if anyone is interested in doing a group buy for a range hood. After all my research, I've arrived at Sakura

As a comparision the current Mattamy range hood is 180 CFM and 8 sones, while the one from Sakura goes upto 800 CFM and 4.5 sones. I'm looking into the U2 II model with the rocker switch (this is preferable for maintenance reasons). Specifically, i'm pricing the Stainless Steel model, they also have: White, Almond, and Black

This range hood is great for asian and indian cooking - oil, smoky, spicy.

At the Sakura outlet in sauga, they list it at $619 - but they will accept $580 tax included (cash). I know we can bring them down further, if we can get a couple of orders, lets aim for $500 tax in.

I'm going to visit Appliance Canada this weekend as well as Pacific mall and the Sakura store in Scarborough.

Anyone interested?

Hey dvm,
I was out and around today - we found a pacific model with autoclean for 500 bucks + tax.

But i'm still favoring the sakura for other reasons. Going to pacific mall this weekend. Which model and colour are you interested in?

Will let you know when I find out more.

After ALOT of consideration, here are the 2 front contenders:
- Sakura U2Stainless Steel with the rocker switch ($560 including taxes)
- Pacific 3100Stainless Steel 2 speed with Autoclean + 1 container of liquid ($565 including taxes)

I plan on making my purchase in early May. I will be buying 2 range hoods - either one.

My choice has been made based on reliability, power, maintenance, noise
levels and looks.

Things to consider:
- Sakura is 25" deep - this is my preference since we have a really deep stove and not too tall cooks who might bump their head - Pacific is 22" deep
- Pacific has a catch try at the back to catch autoclean run off: if you haven't done your blacksplash yet, you might prefer Sakura since its a straight edge and not curved like pacific.
- For both models it is recommended that you have a 6" round exhaust - although Sakura will accomodate a rectangular exhaust (this is the current setup with the cheapo Mattamy install)
- Pacific is rated at 750 CFM while Sakura is 680 CFM

Also wanted to include the following:
Sakura will come with a lifetime motor warranty and a 1 year parts and service warranty.

Pacific - comes with a lifetime motor warranty

Hey Pete - mattamy gives 6" vent, but the current vent is a rectangular 10"x3". If you pass by homedepot, have a look at the airking range hood - they have a rectangular opening.

I've bought my range hood - i recommend the sakura store on dixie.

Builder will install range hood but not good quality. It comes with white so if your alppliances are stainless still then you have to match range hood with s.s.

Builder wont change with something special

hood will throw air out side. we want higher cfm 650 because we dont want kitchan smell inside the house. we will install after closing.

Hi,
Any body knows which one cheapest and good place to buy WALL MOUNT HOOD FAN and what is the installation charges for that. While builder charge too high with low CFM hood.
Any information should be appreciated.

We bought ours from here:
http://www.kitchenhoods.ca/catalog/specials.php

If you you get one with a chimney that is narrower then the hood make sure to ask the builder to centre the vent. If you are somewhat handy it shouldn't be too difficult to install and it's a good idea to have a second person to help.
If you prefer to hire someone there are hanyman installers who advertise on the forum.

I'll probably get something together again. Still price shopping as I need to buy one for my new home. Sakura has the chimney style as well.

The sauga store has the U2 II SS for 619 - I remember buying it cash for 550 for 2.

I'm looking at the chimney style, they range from 750 to 899. PM me with your style and budget.
