Except stone cost, usual cost is $6-7/sft for labour, screenings, polymeric sand, etc.

I am negotiating for Hanson Somerset or Kensington/Triple H Bristol for around $12/ft for 700 sft patio

$8,400 for the install, what about stone cost? How much is the stone for the 700 sq ft?

it looks like $12/sq foot for the stone, plus $6-$7 for the install now that I re-read it.

That seems way too expensive if that's the case... unless it's some sort of special stone...

Yeah that is freaking nuts! No way i would be spending that kind of money on a slab of interlock. Rather build an awesome deck for that kind of money.

We just had five quotes given ranging from $10 -20 sq foot for about 250 sq feet of property. We went with a middle of line $13.00 per sq foot quote from a larger company and they will do it in about 2 weeks time. First guy sounded like he was a good deal i.e. cheap, but then i read reviews and found out why he was cheap. Also, we were going to build a deck and it was going to cost us about $4800.00 for the basics so we went with patio stones.

The Contractor (Del Bro Contracting) couldn't furnish proper references of recent work - therefore the project has fizzled out at the moment

Back @ square 1 and pondering if we should wait for late fall as everyone is crazy busy and we are afraid of landing a problem contractor

I'm having a hard time getting quotes too. They are not returning my phone calls or the quotes that I've been getting were way off. 1 guy quoted me $18K, another $10K and then another 14K. When I ask them for the final drawings, they never get back to me. Too many shady people.

They're all busy now and couldn't care... That's sad though, as a contractor that does care would end up with a better reputation and more referrals...

I guess most of them are fly-by-night.

Contractors want to be paid 50% up front for materials and they didn't like our idea of paying for materials on their behalf; though it shouldn't matter for a honest operator.

We are sceptic about paying before start of work as couple of time contractors have not shown up and we lost chunk of money.

Guess its better to wait for cooler weather before re-embarking on the mission
