After spending Polar Vortex #1 with no heat in my truck, I called up Paul who had me bring it in on very short notice. Picked it up the next day nice and warm, just in time to deal with Polar Vortex #2.

Thanks again Paul & True Tech!

What can i say about this shop... only one thing... amazing! Work is done fast and it is done well which is hard to get these days! The people their are quite helpful as well! I see that Paul has hired a young man named Lorenzo.. At first i thought, this kid doesn't know anything, maybe he just has him here to clean the shop and change tires. But as soon as he came to tell me what my problem was with my car and explained it in such detail that even i was surprised! Looks like Paul found himself an amazing young apprentice which i believe is tough for these times as well. He was truly helpful and made me feel comfortable that i had an educated person working on my car! Shout out to Lorenzo and the boys at True Tech !

Update: I have since spoken to Paul, and cleared the air with True Tech.

I retract any comments that may have been interpreted as me accusing True Tech as stealing my items for the express purpose of reselling them. I was making an assumption based on feelings and not facts.

We have confirmed that I should have been advised up front by the workers that Paul was away and that it would be better to wait to speak with him, and I should have insisted on speaking with him proactively regardless of whether I was advised he was away or not.

True Tech has confirmed that they received my email, after checking their email folders, so I would like to confirm that I did attempt several times to get in touch with the store to resolve my issue - my fault for not insisting on speaking with the owner, and instead relying on the fact that I was told there was nothing that could be done.

Paul is helping me out with resolving this situation, and I have agreed to remove my posts in exchange for the help; I will update when this situation is complete.

Rims (aka wheels) and hubcaps are two entirely separate items. For example, hubcaps are an accessory piece mounted to rims.

On your last visit, were your snow tires already mounted to steel winter wheels (i.e. 4 *heavy* pieces total), or did you bring just 4 snow tires (i.e. not already on rims) for True Tech to put on? If the latter, it would make sense that only the old all-season tires may have been given back.

AlphaMale, I'm seeing this as you are. If the winter tires were mounted on steel winter rims and the all seasons on the cars normal rims it's a straight switch. The all seasons were worn out but why remove them from the rims just to throw them out when whoever you buy new tires from will depose of them as you pay for that service in the price of the new tires.

Nope, we had the rims permanently on the snow tires, so we would save time and money the two times a year we do the switch.. That's what makes the snow tires so heavy, compare to when we've had snow tires with no rims in the past..
When we were told that the all-seasons were to be junked in the fall, all we were given back were the bare tires from True Tech - no rim or hubcap at all..
Now I think they've been sold, which sucks for is, but at least we won't get scammed like this in the future I guess...
Still looking for a place for reasonable rims or hubcaps..

Hmmmm, I see. Yes, a separate set of wheels always makes better sense even if the initial payout is higher.

You could go on kijiji or craigslist to try to find a set of rims. What make and model vehicle do you have?

Here's something unique about garages during the seasonal rushes: They are crunched for time because everyone wants an appointment, so they will never un-mount tires from rims unless the customer asks, and they will almost always dispose of the tires for you. Especially during the seasonal rush, the tire machine gets heavy use, and removing tires is extra work that isn't a good use of a shop's time. Could there have been a misunderstanding? Maybe the rims could still somewhere in the shop? Have you spoke to the owner directly or paid a visit?

We had a very bad experience at true tech last year, I went to this business from the day they opened, Paul was always great, guy at the front desk far from it,
Lots of other good mechanics in town.

I've known Paul for years, been taking my vehicles to him since the day he opened True Tech's doors at their first Bronte Street location. The one thing I can totally vouch for is his integrity. Taking a clients rims/hubcaps off their tires and purposely holding them back with the intent to sell is NOT something he would do. In reading the time frame of your letter & knowing that Paul is away, I'm wondering if you've spoken with him directly in regards to this matter prior to posting your letter on a public forum. While I understand your frustration with the situation and hope it gets sorted out, publicly accusing a business owner of something without any proof that it actually happened is noting more than slander.
