I'm on the final phase of finishing my basement, but I've basically ignored the shitty construction stairs up until this point. I was considering carpet, and was wondering if anyone had experience with this? I wondering what it would cost, and if it looked ok?

I'm open to other ideas if anyone has them?

Niam (i thinke he's co-owner at flooring works) did our basement in a "tougher" berber - including the stairs. i recomend him too!! the price was better than home depot...and they did a great job :D

btw, i'm not sure how they leave the basement stairs now.. but ours were still open i.e. no risers. my husband closed them all in before they came to carpet. wasn't too trickey..

good luck!

Two people saying the the same thing then it sounds like a good place to me.

I've already closed up all but the bottom step, and like William suggested I will be painting the sides. So I will give this place a call. Maybe I should tell them about this forum so they can pay Rick for the referrals :)

Thanks everyone who recommended Niam, what a great guy, and a great job. If anyone else stumbles into this entry needed carpeted stairs, or carpeted anything, call Naim over at Flooring World at Derry and Ontario!
