As mentioned, a drop ceiling is nice because you can still maintain access to anything above, such as plumbing, electrical, duct work, low-voltage etc.. With drywall you cannot have any electrical junction boxes hidden in the ceiling, they all must be accessible. I know firecode requires a drywall ceiling if you have someone living down there. |
