My brother wants a bull dog, I was just wondering if anyone knew any breeders and how much they usually go for? I'm not a dog person so i have no idea, but he's starting to llok around. if they aren't too much maybe I'll get him one |

There's a magazine you can buy at the bookstore called Dog Annual or Canadian Dog Annual or something like that which lists all the breeders in Canada... my mother got it when she was looking for her dog. |

We've looked at them as well. For a purebred you are looking at an average of $2500 (sometimes females go for more). This is because having a litter is more expensive than the average dog, they sometimes need to be born by caesarean, etc. There are some bulldog rescues in Ontario, and often, after they've had a couple of litters you can get a 3-4 year old bitch for much less, but I think they only have a life expectancy of about 9 years. |

We have a 4 yr old English Bulldog, Mac. After looking for a breeder in Ontario we gave up and bought from PJ's in Square One. I'm sure they are a lot cheaper through the breeder. They are great dogs especially around children, great family protector but he does not come without his health problems. To begin with he cannot to be walked for long periods of time in the warmer months (very dangerous because of their respiratory problems), he has bad hips and his back legs are bow legged, every summer he gets allergies. We had insurance for him but every time we put through a claim for him they kept sending us an insurance premium so it ended up being over $100.00 per month so we just cancelled it. Mac is a part of family but I just wanted to let you know some of things that come along with getting a bulldog. |

The other great thing about these dogs is that they are lazy they could sleep all day

| Post subject: | Bulldog Breeder |
Hello fellow Bulldog lovers! My parents have a bulldog...she is now 9 years old. They are great pets, great with children and very lazy! Yes they are know for their health problems but we have been lucky with Daisy. She has only had ear problems that required surgey. Now as she is older you can tell her hips are giving her some problems. The average life span of a bulldog is only 8 years, so that is a downfall. I would love to have one, but my wife thinks they are ugly and we now have a Chocolate Lab. My parents purchased their Bulldog at the following breeder...we did plenty of research before choosing the breeder. They were in Wiarton but now are in Owen Sound. My mom was talking to them a few weeks ago and they have just moved so their website is down, but here is the contact information: http://www.findpetmatches.com/Dogs/Bree ... 4-0-0.html Hope this helps! Chris |
