Hello all,

I'm pretty sure some of you are wondering what a finished Wood Lily looks like from the exterior and what happens when the Town of Milton/Mattamy puts in the sidewalk..........

Well, we were out in Milton and decided to drive up to see some finished Wood Lily homes on or close to Kelman Drive (near Louis St. Laurent). We noticed that they were getting ready to put in the sidewalk on the outer side of the street. Not good news for those homes. We have been told that we are likely getting a sidewalk on our side of the street too, so it's disappointing to see what happens to the driveway lengths. It's pretty horrible. I am going to attempt to post some pics we took yesterday evening so you can see how bad it looks. I think it sucks! Here are two different Wood Lily "C" homes.

I remember someone was going to talk to the town about this as it affects the driveway space on some models/homes. Did anyone get any favourable results? Are they still planning to do this in Vista and other upcoming subdivisions? I was hoping for a two car driveway but I know that they (Mattamy) make you initial off a paper showing the possible driveway positioning/size should you end up with a sidewalk. I really feel like it ridiculous. Almost all detached homes with two car garages come with two driveways. Even with the staggered garages on the Wood Lily and other homes, the street and lot layouts and sizes should have been done in a way to accomodate two cars in the driveways without making sacrifices to the garden size or frontage. Also, with kiddies it feels like they will be so close to the road. Very unsafe

Anyone in a finished home with a staggered garage and a sidewalk? How is it?

Are we able to do anything about this issue or are we stuck with it? I know there's a discussion about this topic on the general section of the forum so I can add these pics there too! Thanks for any input.

On another note, the finished Wood Lily 'C' looks great! I love the way the SS1 package of exterior colours turned out. We love the sage stucco with the grey stone work.

If anyone has interior Wood Lily pics, please share. We would love to see how the alternate kitchen layout looks as well as the Den with double doors/french doors. Thanks,

Yes, we certainly think this is a serious issue and we should all advise the Town of Milton/Mattamy how disatisfied we are with the driveway lengths being short (too short) when a sidewalk is added. It is not only about the space for parking a car, but also about safety concerns since the sidewalk and road is so close to the homes and short front lawns.

We would sign a petition and add our name to it for sure. Would you be able to have people private message you with their name, address and phase/lot, and phone number and emails, and then one list/petition can be presented to the Town? If you are okay with doing that, then I know there are lots of other people on the general forum who aren't happy with the driveway locations and sizes, and they may also want to be added to this list. I would say it would have to be completed soon and presented to the Town, to ensure changes happen immediately! This is definitely a good idea and worth exploring.

Thanks,

If you signed the schedule stating the shortened driveway, you AGREE to it. enough said.

We were told by the sales rep that it would be a very slim possibility and you could still park a small car. The pic/sketch they ask you to initial doesn't show dimensions.

Of course, when you okay the sketch you are agreeing to it if it happens. Yes, we know this. Thanks for your very deep insight!

Your sales rep really said that? sorry, then your sales rep is an idiot. Mine said there's no chance you can park a car in that tiny spot, unless of course you drive a "smart car" or a tonka truck...

Ha......ha...........

I think we will have to get our son that Tonka truck just so we have a use for that space in front of the garage.

LOL

We drove through 15C today which now has sidewalks, I think you'd be lucky to fit a smart car on the short side. We can park a Ram on our short side without a sidewalk. Good for a motorbike, pretty much useless otherwise.

We have a Royal Fern with a similar garage layout. We measured the length between the front garage door to the sidewalk and you're right dball, you MIGHT be able to put a Smart Car on there...anything longer than that will extend onto the sidewalk.

To those of you with a sidewalk and a staggered garage, take it from us, it's upsetting. To have one on your side and to look across the street at those without a sidewalk pains me inside everytime I look.

Hi RKNight,

Are you sure this is the same house that's still for sale? Was it re-listed as in the last bunch of pictures it had no furniture and it did not look like any one lived in it.

Also, do you have a link to this FOR SALE listing? I searched and found nothing. It says the house at 910 Savoline is sold or the ad is expired.

Thanks so much.

Oh and thanks for the solution/idea for parking for the Wood Lily driveway but I don't think it will work due the different layout and staggered garage. You literally open your front door and land on the sidewalk  We shall have to see if other Wood Lily owners, with sidewalks, have come up with a parking solution for 2 cars in the driveways.

Does anyone know how much delay on closing day Mattamy usually has? I also bought a Wood Lily which will be closed at the end of next April. The new tax policy will start next July 1st. If the delay of the closing day is too long, I am worrying the new tax policy will be applyed on me.
