Personally, I found MattamyU to be a worthwhile adventure. Despite being one of two families in attendance for our street (they divide up the tables by street), we got to mingle with our builder/asst builder, the warranty manager, etc. I'm not insinuating bias, but if you can make a long-lasting impression on the people there, I find they're more likely to remember your requests later down the road.
They did go over some elementary points about home ownership in Milton, setting up utilities, things to look out for, a little horn-tooting for themselves, then an "open questions" period for those in attendance.
