I just thought... since we have a lot of anger on this board at times, I wanted to open up a thread for people to just go ahead and vent about anything from a pet peeve to a daily annoyance or otherwise...
If there was something you could change about your daily routine, what would it be? A task that you'd rather not do... something you wish didn't take so long... anything!

Examples...
I dislike that it takes 20 seconds to get hot water to my shower in the morning even WITH insulated pipes.
I dislike how some people have no respect for (and don't teach their kids) opening doors carefully in parking lots, preventing dents / scratches.
I hate shoveling snow!
It's difficult keeping my shower clean... and so on

This thread will either be a good avenue to vent, or a place to exchange ideas with other Hawthorne Villagers on how to improve these little annoyances. Sorry people, I can't do anything about the shoveling.

Go ahead, vent.. about anything, no matter how small... You don't even need to be specifically looking for help, just vent away.. what little things bother you? (besides long posts such as this) I'm curious to see where this goes, if anywhere... Please, keep it respectful and avoid personal insults as this is meant to be constructive.

hehe thanks for the post! I hope that at least felt a little good getting off your chest.

(For the door thing, I occasionally throw in a sarcastic "ya, thanks" just loud enough for them to hear... very theraputic! as is the opposite "ya, you're welcome" when a stuck up person ignores you after you clearly went out of your way to hold the door for THEM)

Great thread, Fredd75... though I wonder who will be the first to miss the point of this thread and post a complaint about how people are always complaining.

Anyhow, here's a few of mine:

- People who think the world is their personal ash tray and/or garbage can. Your car has an ash tray, use it instead of throwing your butt out the window. And just hang onto your trash until you stop somewhere that you can dispose of it properly.

- People who assume their time is more valuable than anyone elses, and as such feel that rules/laws don't apply to them. For example, the dozens of cars this morning and every morning who heading north on James Snow Parkway don't want to wait in line to merge onto the 401 East. So, instead they drive on the left lane to the entrance of the on-ramp and then stop waiting for someone to let them in as they so rightfully deserve, apparently. Traffic jam, cursing and road rage ensue.

- People too lazy to walk so they have to make their own parking space wherever they wish, or worse yet, park in the wheelchair spots and those designated for pregnant women and families with babies... I'm thinking of you Mr. Silver Aurora who did this two Saturdays ago at Superstore. I tried flagging you down to give you a piece of my mind but you didn't notice or were too afraid/ashamed to come discuss the matter.

I could go on forever with the things that bug me, but I'll stop there.

I agree Eclipse, I 'love' it when I am waiting in the morning in a long line of cars at the intersection of James Snow Parkway and Derry Rd, and people go zooming by in the left lane, in hopes of getting in front of us people who are patiently waiting in the right lane. I bow down to those people! (I hope you can hear sarcasm dripping from this statement)

Ok ... I'll vent a little. In no particular order:

1) Able bodied people who take the elevator for 1 floor. The are usually the same people who hit the handicap buttons to open the doors despite having one or both hands free.

2) People who tailgate. What makes you think that your SUV or Van has the same stopping power of my little 2 door coupe, or my fiancé's Echo hatchback? Even if you see an emergency breaking situation before I do, you're stopping distance is still 3x the distance if not more.

3) Websites that use technology for the sake of using technology, not because it is the best way to do it. Examples would be flash menus and javascript links, that sort of think. I really hate javascript links.

4) The false argument of "The customer is always right."

5) Communists

6) Allergies. OMG I hate my allergies and I hate when people are allergic to things. I don't hate the people, I hate that they can't enjoy something or I can't enjoy something because they are allergic.

7) Smokers. WHY ARE YOU STILL SMOKING. What the hell is wrong with you? Does smoking make you blind to all non-smoking signs? Is it fun to smoke right out side the door while leaning on the sign that specifically states that there is no smoking allowed within X metres of the door? Do you think because you are outdoors that 2nd hand smoke just disappears?

People who claim to need coffee. You are no better then someone who needs a line of coke to get their day started. Just because it's legal doesn't make it any more respectable. I'm sure I'd be a hell of a lot more productive at work too if I could do an 8-ball 3 times a day.

9) Hair and nails. Please stop growing, you are a pain in my backside.

10) Mac elitists. Please go die in a fire. Let me know when you hit double digits in market share. Then maybe you will have enough numbers for a fair comparison between Windows and Mac platforms ... don't forget Linux and all it's incarnations!

11) PC elitists. Please go drown in a lake. You aren't much better then the Mac elitists.

12) Gel pens. You suck. I don't care how cheap you are. Please stop taking market share away from Ink. Ink is immeasurably better then you in every other category.

13) Track pads on laptops. How did these ever get a chance to be implemented on a laptop, let alone the majority of the world's choice. The thinkpad nub is better!

14) Cell Phone addicts. Despite what you might think, it's ok to be out of touch for a few minutes/hours on your ride home. Please do us all a favour and try just driving/walking/shutting the hell up for once.

15) Facebook. People wouldn't give that much personal information to their neighbour, but they'll broadcast it over the internet for just about anyone to see? I love when I hear about people who are so paranoid about identity theft or their privacy and then in their next breath talking about how much they are addicted to facebook. Also, to my friends/family/acquaintances, please stop putting pictures of me up on the internet for the whole world to see.

16) People who are too lazy to make a little extra at dinner so that they can have leftovers for lunch instead of frozen lunches/dinners which take 8-10 minutes to cook in the microwave creating enormous lineups every lunch hour.

That's all I can think of that bothers me at the moment.

Not all cars have suspension designed/tuned with bump absorption in mind.

I never understand people wearing heavy smelling perfume to Cinema.
For me it is huge ignorance from their side for people like me, who are smell sensitive.
But. Nobody is perfect.
I would like to pay it back and get myself boarded on the plane loaded with few pints of beer.
Last week at my return from Halifax we finally met.
Guy next to me smelled incredibly sweet. I was almost eating it.
And I - smelled like the old English Bitter. He was almost drinking it.

The guy at the grocery store who blocks the whole isle with his cart while he decides if he feels like cheerios or mini-wheat’s.

This one is especially true during xmas…. When you’re walking around the mall, and the person in front of you abruptly stops. I’ve almost trampled people doing this.

Neighbors who congregate in the front yards of their homes past 8:00PM, waking up my kids.

Those Min-Max door hangers.

Environmentalists.

People who can't chew with their mouths shut!! Especially in the movie theatre.

People who drive slow (slower than posted limits) killing the traffic (especially in the morning Rush hour). Who gives them driving licence? I bet their driving instructors are the same way ... Even if there is enough space on the highway, these people drive 80 or 70 km/hr, and cars behind them think that there is traffic ahead, so they drive 10 km/hr slower, and so on ... causing traffic jams .... why can't everyone drive atleast on the speed limit, so the traffic keeps moving rather getting stuck ?? ??

Seems like so far we mostly dislike people's behaviour... how about some annoying tasks that you wish you didn't have to do regularly (other that dealing with people #1-100 listed so far above.. )

I'll have to thumbs up all the above. Especailly the Facebook one. Never got into, and don't understand it. Basically it's an online popularity contest to see who has the most friends. High school is over folks!

Also, dark hair on the back of my neck and upper back. Why? What purpose does it serve, and why does it hurt so much to get it taken off!

and lastly... people complaining about bad drivers. It's not going to change, it's not going to get any better, and no matter how mad you get, people will never stop making mistakes on the road. So you might as well learn to live with it!

#2) PEOPLE WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE WHILE IT IS SNOWING, SHOULD BE STAYING AT HOME.
# 3) STILLLLL WAITING FOR NO FRILLS OR FOOD BASICS TO COME TO MILTON.
#4) MILTON GARBAGE PICK UP EVERY 2 WEEKS!!!!! HATE IT!
