If you want something that involves the kids the Toronto Zoo does a great family New years event including a New Years countdown (but early at like 8:00 or 9:00 pm) that the kids get to take part in. You can make a day of it if you go early in the day to visit the animals!

As for us, we are putting the baby to bed at her regular time and then will prob. curl up on the couch with a bottle of wine and maybe play a board game or something and see if we can stay awake untill midnight!
