I just got back from the Mayan Riviera. Stayed at a "5 star" resort. Had a great time until the resorts' kids club LOST our 4 year old!! Like a lot of previous posts mentioned, the resort staff did nothing to help us find her, even though it was their fault.
We're considering legal action against the travel agent, tour operator and resort.
I've heard nothing but good things about Riu and Bahia resorts in Jamaica.

Cliff

Do you think they'll ever find her or are you considering it a write-off?

Just got back from Mayan yesterday - spent two weeks at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. Spent a week last year at the Riu Negril. I would say Mexico was my favourite only because of the list of off resort stuff you can do. I wouldn't leave the (any) resort in Jamaica. Mexico is still safer despite the few incidents lately (considering that approx. 4.5 million people visit Mexico each year). Beaches at Negril are equally as beautiful if that's where you plan to spend the bulk of your time.

Mexico is NOT safer than Jamaica - Jamaica has a bad rap - im not sure why exactly but I think its mostly ppl "assuming" there is trouble -but I did lots of off resort stuff there and didnt get the googly eyed men gawking at me or asking me if I wanted to "make a baby" with them - as I did in Mexico...

no it wasn't the Barcelo. I can't name the resort yet.
A guest found her, took her to the concierge and they had no record of her being lost, even though we reported her lost 35 minutes earlier. Those radios that security carry around must just be for show!

Yes we did get her back - I'm assuming that was an attempt at humour...
