Hey everyone!

My fiance and I are lot # 6 on Savoline. We close November 09. Nice to meet you.

Katherine & Matthew

Hi Katherine and Matthew, Welcome to the neighbourhood.

Thanks Andrea :) We purchased last March and are very anxious to move in!! I like the pictures of your house, especially the one with you standing in front of it. I think scrapbooking is a great idea!! We have been taking pics as well, although all we have at the moment is a pic of our stick!!

Katherine :)

Hey katherine,
Thanks. I got into scrapbooking a few years ago in 2003 while my condo was being built. I wanted to keep a record of it. I had no idea when I was doing that that there was this whole industry for the hobbie.
I look forward to meeting you when you move in.
I see that you live in sauga as well. So do I. I was up by Dixie and Rathburn but I sold my condo in the summer and now I am down by Lakeshore on the border between Port Credit and Lorne Park.
Andrea

Hey Andrea,
It's true, scrapbooking is very popular. Have you ever gone to Michael's Arts & Crafts store? They have a whole section dedicated to it :) You will have to show your scrapbooks! I look forward to meeting you as well :) You are very close to us, I am at Hurontario and Eglinton area and Matthew is at Burnhamthorpe and Hurontario. Port Credit isn't far from us at all. We are getting married this May and will then be living in Matthew's condo until the house is ready. I can't wait to move to Milton and meet everyone.

Hey Katherine,
When it comes to scrapbooking Michaels is my second home. I live in that store sometimes and i need to get shares in the company. Seriously. scrapbooking is a very expensive hobby but I love it. When you move in I will show the scrapbook I am making of the building of my home.

Hi all, just one quick question...did any of you opt for 9 foot ceilings? If so, how much does it cost?

9 foot ceilings wasn't an option for Mainstreet towns. That doesn't meant that they aren't an option for the detached homes.
Good luck with the appointment though.

Hey Andrea
I hear you, I love Michael's too! I tend to pass by the outlet at Heartland all the time. I found some items for the wedding there and I love their selection of stickers! lol It's true, they have can get expensive but it's worth it. I really like their Martha Stewart collection. I would love to see your scrapbooks :) I enjoy checking out your weekly updated pics of your house!!

No problem Katherine. I can't wait to see what they have done this week. I hope they are on the second floor.

I am making my front room into my scraproom. I can't wait to have a dedicated room to do my craft.

Thanks Andrea. I really wish they would list prices for things like that. You think they would, since it's a pretty popular upgrade. Thanks for wishing me luck... 90% of our upgrades are structural...I'm gonna need it!

Sorry April,

no 9' option in our houses as well..... there's actually very limited structural upgrades.

Thanks for the info Rob! That will definitely save me a few thousand. Hmmm...or maybe now I can get my hardwood stairs??? Another question, is the price listed for the hardwood stairs per staircase? I have 2 staircases & am wondering if I need to double the price.

That is exactly correct, it's priced out per staircase so you have to multiply it by two...

You know Rob,
That is what I thought and was told when I asked but when it came time for my appointment I believe I only paid for it one time. I chose oak stairs and paid 2508 for them. I know I have two sets of stairs. I remember paying double for the stain which was 1698 and for the newell posts I only paid it one time for 112. I am still a little confused because if you have to pay twice and I only paid once then I hope my stairs with the stair runner aren't the regular stairs.

We had both sets of stairs done the same way and we paid double, one for each set.... ????? Maybe I'm confused by the question...

Rob,
I went back through my e-mails from my DC Colette and this is what she told me with regards to the stairs.

My question re: the cost of having all oak stairs with stain and square pickets. Is the cost in the book the price for one set of stairs or for both sets.
Her answer:
Price in book is for all stairs. Square pickets add $112.00.

My question re: getting the stairs with the Newel post. How many will I need for my home.
Her answer:
Traditional newel posts are included and square chamfered newel posts are included with $112.00 for square pickets/posts. However, Victorian newel posts are $514.00 each.

My question re: what is the cost for staining the stairs the same colour as the floor? How many coats of stain are applied to the stairs?
Her answer:
The cost is $1696.00? 2 – 3 coats based on the colour they are trying to achieve.

I think it's based on what you do... We had the stairs stained which was one fixed price, the other part was the coverings, we had berber installed on them which was based on the per staircase thing. I think hardwood is the same thing, you can have one staircase done in hardwood but not the other so they split it out.. Then again what do I know... I didn't explore the other options because we had other want/needs ;-)

Wow Rob...your stairs sound like they are going to be beautiful. I've always wanted hardwood stairs with a berber runner...but I think I'm probably going to do it after closing.

They would be nice.. but we couldn't afford that ;-) We actually did that in our first Mattamy place but that was only one staircase. We had this one stained (the pickets and the rail), but the actual stairs are berber. We looked at some aftermarket hardwood options for the stairs and somewhere down the line we'll have them done that way because it cost WAY less than going through Mattamy.
