Just wondering if everyone is still waiting for their assessments or not.

We have the bank take it out with the mortgage - ensure you call the Town of Milton's tax department and let them know to send the bill to your bank.

If you bank with my bank, they'll tell you to call, and then when you do, the Town of Milton will give you attitude, telling you that the bank has already directed them to bill the bank directly, lol.

I'm not too happy with my bank right now, can you tell? :)

They hold it in a separate account.

when we closed on our first house in Feb 2004, our first tax assessment bill came in the fall and due Nov 30th of 2004. In Jan 2005, we got our next assessment for the year and that was set up in the quarter billings (feb/apr/jul/sept).

don't know if that has changed but I trust someone will correct me if I am wrong ;)

They may include your 2008 taxes on your 2009 interim bill (they did for us). If that didn't happen, then yes, it's only a matter of time before they bill you for 2008.

We moved in June 2008. Received tax bill for 2008 (6 months) at end of year and was due at end of Jan. Just received 2009 interim so we're all caught up now and it wasn't too painful! They don't seem to bill you at the rate that you paid for the house so I was relieved to see that.

If your interim taxes come to $380 then you'll be in for quite a surprise when they send you the rest of the bill - unless your house is appraised for $90,000 or so (in which case that tax bill would be about right).

I would guess that what you're looking at is the land portion of your tax liability. Maybe your house has not been appraised yet.
