Does anyone have more information on this price increase? Does it apply to those that have already signed and paid their deposit, I wonder?? Or is it house specific- like they made a mistake...
I don't think they can change the price after we have signed all of our work as it's a contract...

Welcome stacyj! I've added you to the main page! It's great to see so many newbies on the forum!

Cookiepaws- it's fine for them to change the pricing of their upgrades whenever they want as long as it is before your final selection and you haven't signed off on it unfortunately. :( But I would also like to hear if it is model specific or Vista in general and how much the increase is....

Suddenly increasing the prices on cabinet packages. That's ridiculous!

Although I know they can and they do, they should not be allowed to change the pricing of the upgrades, once the list has been released to that Phase. At least keep the same for that phase! It was their mistake (or so they say) and so they should have to live with it. They should have to keep the prices as they originally listed them.

It would be considered good/proper business sense and optimum customer service. I am not impressed. First, they did that with some Wood Lily homes. They included the option of a den with an opening and columns and then they started charging for it somewhere mid-phase.

This is not good news.

For people like Cookie Paws, you should really fight for the pricing they agreed upon when you picked your upgrade packaging for the Frendel cabinets. You should not be forced to pay the price difference. Everyone shouldn't just accept it.

I wonder if other streets/phases are experiencing the same with their upgrades. The sudden price additions and increases!!!!!!

You would think with the economy on a downturn, the builder would work hard to provide good customer service and incentives to ensure they remain in business.

The almighty $$$$$$$$$ wins again!

 [/b]

I'm very curious to see what happens, we haven't been contacted. We had all of our appointments completed January 30th. We gave them a cheque for 35% right then but they have not cashed it-- could be bad news. LOL-

My issue is do I call and ask- who wants to ask if they owe more money? but I don't want to find out later... Then again maybe I should wait- I could end up taking a strip off some poor woman (don't mess with a bride right before her wedding) LOL

I know that for us we will not pay one dollar more- we will scrap our kitchen package before we give Mattamy any more money. Or if there is a fight we'll see if we can get out of our house altogether.-- Now that they will be practically giving them away in their next phase.

Well, I haven't heard anything yet. I got some good advice and at this point I'm not going to borrow trouble. I feel sorry for those that are currently going through this. I hope everyone is able to work something out.

Good luck!

Hi Everlasting,
Yep, you made quite an entrance. LOL.

Let us know how it went today. I hope you have some positive news.

Also, fellow Vista people, how do you get in to see the site/homes on Wettlaufer? The last few times we tried to visit the site, it was blocked off by construction equipment and materials. Help? There must be a way. I know there's not much to see but it would be nice to get an idea of where they are at with the building stages.

Thank-you.

Well, it's been quite a long time since we went for a visit. At that time you only had access via Tremaine. Has that been closed now? I'd be curious to know as well...

PS- anyone going to check out the new Spirit phase this weekend, we're going to try to fit it in. The suspense is just too much.

the Tremaine entrance was closed off the last two times we tried to visit. I'm curious about the Spirit release too. We may try to head up on Sunday afternoon. I expect Saturday will be a zoo at the sales centre!

Is that how the difference in house prices is being funded? By non-Spirit phase owners? I really hope not.

We were able to determine a few things that Mattamy was able to do to make this phase more cost effective so hopefully that's where the difference is.

I'm really disappointed in upgrade prices increasing from the packages they distributed. Sort of is a bad move isn't it? If everyone is feeling the pain they are making it less likely people will upgrade? no?

Hi all,

Thanks for the update on Vista. We did not get to the site this weekend so it's good to hear what is going on.

Yes, there's a lot of Spirit homes chatter on this forum. Don't worry though, I am sure we will be fine. Our homes are going to be beautiful and they are still good investments. Spirit Homes is just something new that Mattamy has created to meet the needs of affordable housing for first time home buyers. They have to do something, otherwise people won't buy homes in a recession. I think they have marketed the homes well, and created a lot of interest and hype. It will settle down. In our opinion, some of the Spirit homes are nice but it's all about individual preferences and needs. The floor plans are different, the location of these homes is different, and so on..........

Don't worry. The markets will improve and I am sure our properties will remain competitive and desirable. Enjoy the process of your new home experience.

Don't let this stuff get you down. I do disagree with Mattamy jacking up the prices of upgrades and options on our homes. I don't think there's much we can do, is there?

Happy Monday.

8)

Hi Jesta,
Sorry to hear about your delay. Did they say why there's a 3 month delay. That is a long time. Usually, you hear about a few weeks not months! I wonder if most Vista homes are delayed?

The good thing is that at least now you know and you have some time to run around. It's horrible though. Especially when you have kids and all those arrangements and commitments to think about. What a headache. I hope this is your last delay!

Is anyone else in Vista delayed?
