Hmmm very interesting.

Does anyone know how they build a subdivision? If one person is delayed does it go in succession or are they working multiple areas at one time? I see that we have spanned from original June to September closings (we are in July- so sucession would include us)

I guess we'll all be checking the mail first thing tonight.
I feel so bad for everyone that is REALLY inconvenienced by this.

JUUUST recieved our delay notice too!
Original was June 23, 2009 and now its August 26, 2009!
Two whole months...

* Due to delays incurred in the land development process.

I guess we are just happy we can save some more $$ to pay for all those damned upgrades! :)

Hi Everlasting,
All the Vista home owners on the forum should be on page 1 on this thread. I believe Butterfly adds to the list and edits it to keep it up-to-date.

Butterfly, do you add the new closing dates for those who are delayed? That might be handy to see.

It seems there are a few delays. I wonder if we should expect a delay notice too?

We got a delay notice at exactly this time last year for exactly the same reason. Our delay was for 2.5 months (May closing became July). Trust me, my friend, they are not out to screw you. They cannot break ground when the ground is completely frozen. You may get delayed when your neighbours do not (or not so much). It all has to do with leveraging the resources they have. There are many construction teams; some may be running behind, others not. It all depends on the one you got assigned.

Nothing is certain with new house construction, especially your closing date.

WHAT THE F#$K. I'm pissed. How can they delay us 3.5 months?! I see no reason for this. They seem to be far ahead. We drive by the site and supposedly they were to break ground this week. It's not like there are piles of snow. I found there reason on the letter very vague. I hope this has nothing to do with them going bankrupt in the U.S. I'm going to check with my lawyer to what are rights are if they come back and say they are out of business. This makes no sense to me. Welcome neighbours and thanks for letting me vent, LOL.

That felt great, but I'm PISSED.

I agree - 3.5 months is outrageous.

We got our delay notice as well - from October 8th to December 10th. I am a little upset as I wanted our foundation covered before the winter and snow - hopefully it will be and there won't be any further delays.

Be happy that you are not now scrambling to find new accommodations because you sold you old house (as some of us were). It can always be worse.

A year from now it'll be just a memory.

To those of you who got delay notices, did you all get them by registered mail and did you have to sign for them?

I'm just wondering what Mattamy's process is for delays. We don't mind being delayed (we currently close mid-Winder)! I'd just like lots of notice as we have to sell our current home too, and make arrangements.

Thanks,

Wow i'm stunned at how many of you have been delayed. I will definitely update the main page with this new information. I'm praying that we don't get delayed further than December as I was looking forward to being in our new home for Christmas plus I will still be on maternity leave so we will have time to do our unpacking and everything else at a leisurely pace.

ETA: Okay the list is updated. Please let me know if I missed anyone. I hate having to make these updates though :(

Thanks for updating the closing dates Buttafly77! Good luck with your closing. Let's hope they don't delay you. Having a newborn is enough work (and tons of joy and a wonderful blessing). We have two littles ones so we know how it is....... BUSY! Sleepless nights, etc.

Thanks again for taking on the 'updating' of page one.

Hi Satmatrix- no problem at all with updating- it just bites to have to do it.....

This is baby #2 for us (first little guy is almost 3) and we're due Easter weekend- I have no doubt it will be busy- it's giving me a bit of anxiety actually  But we know that others have lived to tell the tale so I figure we will too.

Do you love it?

 @ SDF. I'm glad you're able to keep a sense of humour about all of this....it does look like many if not all will be delayed....I refuse to answer the door for registered mail- do you think that will help? I mean if they can't deliver the notice then they can't delay us then right?

Thanks,

I just picked up mine from Canada Post. Delayed from Nov 12, 2009 to Feb 18, 2010 :o
