Hi Kanda08,

That's interesting.

I just got this email reply from Colin B. He says the Town is not responsible for the delays.

Hi Satmatrix
Thanks for your pm and concerns.

I spoke to Mel Iovio the Town Planner last week regarding your's and other concerns about the delays. He checked with all his staff and there is no holdups at the Town end regarding approvals and inspections. The Town hired more staff last year to take care of the record 2800 home permits.

From what I have heard the problem is at Mattamy's end as they re-organize their schedules due to the economic times and weather delays.

For Town planning, you can check milton.ca for some of the plans and the public meetings we are having regarding planning new areas and intensification of older areas. Council and staff at both local and regional level are working together to make Milton and Halton a walkable and transit friendly community with five commercial/office areas planned within 1 kilometre of your new house so you can also walk or bike to the store or office at the new retail/office areas at Main St. W. and Tremaine, Tremaine and Derry on both sides and Scott and Derry on both west sides.

I will be posting more information as the Town and Region have a busy year with the Boyne Survey, Education Village, Sustainable Halton and Official Plan reviews. The powerpoint presentations of these meetings are posted online after the meeting where you can comment via email.

GillWill- no problem! I've now updated the spreadsheet with your information- it's so nice to "meet" someone else on Nunn Court :D

Cookiepaws- I would have blown a gasket if they told me that I was delayed and my notice was sent out and then "OOPS!" sorry you're not actually delayed?! Maybe it's the fact that i'm 8 months pregnant and terribly cranky right now but someone over at Mattamy would have been hearing from me! I'm royally pissed on your behalf.

LesleyRichard- Did they say that they are changing the pricing on upgrades that you already have chosen??

strip lighting is used with flourescent bulbs. Very bright. You can easily change out the bulbs for a warmer colour.

Hi Froggle, (COol NaME)

Just wanted to say welcome to Vista!

I do hope that they let us go back to picking what we want versus being forced to pick their 'thought up' kitchen packages. It's silly. You are paying for things you don't really want or need. At least stuff that may not be essential in your budget.

Well, keep fighting it. We hope they change it so that you can pick and choose the kitchen upgrades with fair pricing. Time will tell.

Congrats on selling your existing house. You are ahead of the game. We are at the de-cluttering stage of our current house right now........

Welcome.

^nope, any competent electrician who does any sort of residential work can do it after the fact without hacking up your ceiling. My electrican friend does this on a regular basis

Hi Froggle,
Yes, you are right. De-cluttering will lighten the load for when we actually move to Milton! I think it is a little early to list the house 'for sale' just yet, as our home doesn't close until next February....(if it's not delayed). We are not sure when to list, but we would like to have the house ready for sale ASAP. I think that the markets usually do well in the spring. Does anyone else have any idea when it would be too early, too late to list????? Of course, once we are ready we will get the input from a few agents too.

Thanks,

Hi Milo,

Thanks for your advice. We were thinking of listing in September. Unfortunately, trying to rent a place temporarily might be a pain, as we have 2 little ones. Otherwise, that would be a good option. If our home sells early, we do have family close by. They would love having us stay for a 'short' period of time!

That's handy that you work by the design centre. Lucky you! If you do find out the paint colour options, can you post the names of them. My guess is they'll give us 4 or 5 paint colour choices. Lots of people have mentioned that they picked Portabello OR Mocha on this forum. I guess those are popular. I also heard Artichoke is a colour choice. Let us know what you find. Thanks!

Have a good day.

Hey all,
We should be getting a hold of our CCR rep tomorrow and I'll let everyone know what the results are as far as requesting a delay...

I can't remember exactly but I think the Portabello was part of the brown family? does anyone remember? We found it easy- it's the only one we liked. We found a lot of things like that when we made our selections- if we stayed with standard it was really easy... which one do we like OR which one don't we hate. :o)

PS- thank you, the wedding was fabulous!

Hello Everyone,
I went to the site over the weekend and everything looks the same. One big mud puddle...LOL. The mud is dry enough to step on so you can actually walk on your lot. Both sides of Pringle are now open, making access a little easier. If your in the neighborhood you may want to drop by the Princess Margret Home Lotto Model Homes you can dream up of idea's for your new home, see different window covering options and flooring idea...
