You guys are going to have so much fun planning and shopping for your new home. My only suggestion is to wait until you get in and see where what you have is going to fit and when decorating go one room at a time.

That was the best advice given to me when I bought my condo in 2002, and it worked out great.

I heard picking out stuff at the design centre can be a nightmare

that's great advice... really, now at our condo we only have ONE room lol... so it was easy... I guess it's a good problem to have since we can start from scratch and buy all new stuff, but will definitely cost a lot :(

Funny enough I too only had a one bedroom condo. I only had to outfit my bedroom and the living room. I could pretty much start from scratch as well but I feel like I have aquired a lot of furniture over the 4 1/2 years I was there. Buying this house has tripled and a little bit more the size of what I had and I am freaking out a little because I can't decide where I want to put any of what I had.

My experience with the design center was a lot of fun at the beginning until Canac went out of business (as I am sure you remember reading from the 18 pages) That part of repicking twice more was a little daunting. By the end I was just tired of it and wanted to make my decisions already. I don't think that will happen for you guys though since they have chosen your cabinet supplier as being Frendel. You shouldn't have to go through what I did. The design center ladies were very helpful and remember to pick up the draft sheet for your choices anytime you go in so you can keep a record of what you chose.

Oh Heather,

Thank You. The map looks great. I just can't remember the three owners I met at mattamy U. I have misplaced the paper I wrote their names on. I do hope if you are reading the website you will join soon. We are all anxious to meet you virtually. Anyways we will meet in person in 6 1/2 weeks.

we're looking forward to the design centre, but at the same time I'm not... not that Sharon and I have different tastes but I can see some potential conflict

we were just at the sales office today and it looks like lot 66 is now open?!

Not that the "old" lot 66 owners were on here, but I wonder what happened?

Hello All!

Heather & Chris - Thanks for the neighbourhood map update! Was trying to do it myself on Friday but didn't finish.

Lisa & Paul - We're waiting on some design upgrade pricing for our structural also! What kind of stuff did you choose?

Anyone else complete their structural & design choices specfically for kitchen stuff and got the Frendel prices? We're still waiting although been told that they'd use Canac prices if Frendel didn't release their prices yet.

Hi Lisa,

Yes my mattamy U was on March 10 in the evening at the Hilton Garden Inn over in Burlington. What they do at this event is tell you all about the construction of your home. What materials they use. They explain who at Mattamy looks after what section or stage of the building of your home. All the different teams. At the end you get to meet who else is going to live on your street. I was able to meet three new people who will live in the towns but none of them are on the forum. They read it but have not joined.

Hope that helps.
p/s if you took any pictures please post them. I am at home sick and can't get to the site this week.

Thanks Lisa,

I am beginning to feel better but my cough is pretty bad. It tends to keep me awake.

My cousin went to the site today and walked through my house. She said that they have laid the tiles down on my ground floor in the laundry and main hallway and in all the bathrooms on the floors and the walls of the showers. They havn't done the powder room yet, and they have installed the banister for my stairs.
I am bursting with excitement. :D I have 5 weeks left to go.
As soon as I am well enough to return to work I will go up for a mid week visit.

Lisa, ya we're not looking forward to taking a day off for the DC... but we'll definitely plan to go again on a "open house" day to see if we can get a clearer picture of what we want to do...

are we assigned a rep?? because no one has contacted us yet from Mattamy :( would be nice to have a "go to" person though for sure

Hope you're feeling better Andrea, the 5 weeks will fly by! that must be so exciting to actually SEE the progress ... I guess for us the draining of the water was start :P

I do hope some of you guys get Colette. She was my DC and she was great. She was very patient and answered all my questions.

Sharon the appointment can go as fast or as slow as you want. If you are prepared when you go you can whip through it all quite quickly.

Rob and I had our infant with us for both appointments - I had him in a bjorn pouch over my shoulders - and we made a point of keeping our list short and sweet. It was 2 hrs for each appointment. We had Agapi and made sure the appointments were in the AM so that Rob could get back to the office for the afternoon.

Just write a list of the MUST HAVES and NICE TO HAVES and keep it under a budget that you stick with. These extras are nice and get expensive really quick. Remember too that alot of these upgrades can be done after close for alot cheaper than what Mattamy offers.

Good luck!!
