Have you looked at the Whirlpool "steam" washer/dryer set?

Available in Gas and electric.

I carry at least 2 LG gas dryers (both current models) and we have a new Kenmore branded Samsung built gas dryer as well as many other gas dryers by GE, Electrolux, Whirlpool...

Here's links to some LG and the Kenmore:

Good choice on LG or Samsung for a second floor laundry, they have the best sound and vibration reduction. I have the electric version of the Kenmore on display at the store if you'd like to come by and take a look. We're open today from noon till 4.

We have a LG gas dryer and love it. We also have the LG washer. I can't see it being an issue mixing a washer and dryer if they are both freestanding and not being stacked.

The long term cost savings of a gas dryer are definitely worth it.

LG definitly has gas dryers...we have one.
After much research we bought LG for our upstairs laundry. First choice would have been the Samsung with the VRT but we also needed a gas dryer and Samsung didn't offer one. We bought from Future Shop, LG washer and gas dryer. Model #'s WM2355CS and DLG5966S. We've had them for about a month and are very happy.
The only noise the washing machine makes is when it is filling with water, you don't hear the spin cycle unless you're in the laundry room and the machine does not move at all. No vibration. The dryer is great as well.
We didn't want a Steam washer, but LG does have one.
