Welcome to the neighbourhood Cristina and Greg!

Closing Update-- We will now be moving in on August 27th, the soonest we could get.

Hi Cookiepaws- do you mind me asking why you wanted to take possession earlier (I know you were delayed originally till September) and how hard was it to get Mattamy to bump up your move in date? Sorry if you've already gone over this- baby brain is a very serious affliction

Hi Buttafly!

The short of the long story,
we were told we were delayed until November, made some commitments found out we were still closing on our original July 23rd date so we then requested a delay of September 23rd. Changed lenders and everything went so smoothly we don't require a delay. GRRR All that and we could have just closed on our original date- we weren't too impressed with our bank to say the least...

The house is not behind, it will probably be ready in two weeks but to be safe they gave us a date of August 27th

we have 3 columns on our house!
i wont be very happy if they are painted.

i just emailed amanda to find out some details pertaining to this. i will let you know of my findings when she gets back to me :)

Good luck, I hope she gets back to you. I emailed her on Sunday about a window we should have on the side of the house and she has yet to get back to me. :(

yikes!!! you know what... im quite disappointed with the process of this. she tells us to email her with questions or problems and when we do she doesnt get back to you right away. we are yet to hear from her too... but i dont want to push anyones buttons by sending another emailing asking whats going on and why i havent heard back yet.... erg!!! i hope we hear soon though, because are columns are now up and they are certainly not colour matched... they are white right now, so looks like they will be painted.

Hey Guys.

For all that are wondering about the columns. We did hear back from Amanda today Here is a quote from the email:

"I would like to apologize for my delayed response, as we are currently experiencing a higher than normal volume of calls and e-mails. I have reviewed your e-mail and can provide you with the following information:

The front porch columns we are using are fiberglass; they are white and will be painted in accordance with the exterior colour package you selected for your home. With respect to colour matching the paint, we can provide you with the colour and brand of paint used, so you can obtain paint for touch-ups in the future. Additionally, colour matching paint is very easy now days as if you obtain a chip of paint, and bring it to a home improvement store, many of them have equipment to scan the chip and match the colour exactly."

Really not happy with the response. She does have a point in saying that paint companies make it a lot easier now to colour-match. But, regardless, this is NOT maintenance free..... grr!!!

ah well,
One more thing to add to the "honey-do" list. (paint touch up for columns)
We did go around and look at the columns and entryway doors of our neighbours - ours aren't done yet. We were less than impressed. One persons entry door they had used both a brush and roller on one door it looked pretty horrible. I'd rather they let us paint our own doors.

We've got an appointment at 3 today, we're going to go over the fixes from the water damage. It looks like they have replaced some drywall but we'll know for sure today when we go out with Sergio.

Good luck today Cookiepaws- please let us know how the appointment goes today and I really hope that everything is fixed up properly.

Yeah i'm not thrilled about the painted columns but at least they are not wood with the potential to rot...

We had our appointment yesterday and it went well. Busy, busy in our house. Lots of painters- all our cabinetry was installed, it was crazy!!
Anyway, things look good. They replaced one full sheet and did some patch work which you can no longer see. I guess only time will tell if we have a problem. They didn't do as much as we would like but more than we expected...if that makes sense.

Hi Lot65Vista,

Do you guys have any children? Just curious!

cookiepaws: That is awesome that things are coming along and that they replaced some of the drywall. Fingers crossed that the rest of your house closing etc. is completely uneventful and dry! :)
