I thought that would be the case but figured I'd ask anyway, thanks for taking the time. Can you reccommend a good floor cleaner that won't leave residue on the floors.

Thanks
Brie

I highly recommend the Vintage hardwood cleaning kit, we have been using it for years now & it does not leave any residue!
You can order it right through their website & it's shipped to your home for $34.95 & the refill spray solution is only $6.99 shipped :)

Hi Patrob,

What can you tell me about Cumaru?? We are looking at putting in hardwood after we close and would like it throughout the entire main floor- including the kitchen and breakfast area. What is an average price per sq ft?

Thanks! :D

It looks very much like Jatoba, it's very hard but it will still scratch & dent even though it's so hard.

I highly recommend going with Solid Sawn for any exotic species. If you can e-mail me with more info, your floorplan, etc. I can give you a quote.

But what about your tiles in the kitchen (if any)??

Thanks for the info! We are looking for something with a lot of variations in the colour of the different pieces of wood. Here is a link to our floor plan.

http://www.mattamyhomes.com/GTA/Communi ... /PLAN4.pdf

Would it be possible for you to give me a quote for:

1.) The dining and great room
2.) The entire lower level minus the front foyer/hall

Yes, ideally we would like to take out the tile in the kitchen and breakfast...but if the wood matches the tile well we may consider keeping it.

Thanks for your help!!

:D

No problem. I will PM you the details :)

Hi, not sure if this question has been asked before.

I have 2 dogs and I am concerened that if we get the hardwood flooring that their claws will scratch it.

I would be grateful if someone could shed some light on this.

Many thanks :D

How large are the dogs? There is always a possibility that the dogs will scratch the hardwood floors. The only way to avoid that is to install laminate or get dog paw protectors :)

You will get some scratching, but as long as you keep the dogs' nails trimmed the scratches won't be that bad.

Speaking from experience, I'd recommend oak flooring for sure (not maple or jatoba, etc.). The oak grain hides scratches really well and I bet you won't even be able to see them without specifically looking for them. Besides, when and if and you do see some scratches on an oak floor, that's just called "character". :)

Thanks for the tip :) Does the stain come off when it's scratched though?

No, it would be just surface scratches on the finish.

Hi patrob...

I'm currently looking into maple hardwood floors, a darker color like chocolate brown. Any experience or comments on the following:

Brampton Hardwood Floors - brands, St. Lawrence and Imperial
Milton Hardwood Floors - brand, Superior
The Hardwood Flooring Store, Burlington, brand Satin Finish

Thanks

I am not a fan of Brampton Hardwood Floors, take a look at this video regarding Imperial :!:

BTW, how many sq. ft. do you need & what plank width do you prefer? How dark do you want to go?
