We're thinking (my wife) at adding a second walk-in closet, which would mean the laundry goes to the basement. Any pros and cons for laundry upstairs? Is it really noisy? I personally want to leave it upstairs, so I won't have to carry heavy loads up and down the stairs...

Hey guys, Christine here! I love reading our Mr. Dressup threads! Next year couldn't come sooner, that's for sure!! We definitely have to meet up for drinks sometime soon! And this time, I'm pretty sure we all won't bed heads or have morning breath LOL

The lot DOES look awesome, and I'm in love with the trees, the area...seriously can't wait!

Also met with the lawyer yesterday (Michael Morgan), so for those who are meeting him today, he was great! New a lot about Mattamy, the contract, etc., and he's our future neighbour!

Have a great day everyone!
Christine

PS - can someone please convince Sal that a Double-side fireplace is a GREAT idea??

Hey Neighbours,

It's Johnny & Jen from lot 12, Oops I mean lot 11. We spent the night thinking we were getting lot 12 so we could put our Wood Lily however in the morning the person with lot 11 decided to put the only home allowed on lot 11 "The Walnut" onto lot 12. Luckily Mattamy looked into it and let us put our model on lot 11 if we signed something saying we could not put a gas fireplace on the side of the house. I think they just felt sorry for us. So here we are.....

Now we stalk Wood Lily's. Does anyone have an up grade price list for Wood Lily's? Is it true that if you get 9' Ceiling up grades that you have to pay to raise each door way?

Looking forward to the block parties!!!!!

We have an upgrad list for the Wood Lily's, i'm sure the sales office has extra, but if you cant get there i'll just scan it. let me know. the 9' upgrade is only for the first floor, so the only door way that would be raised is the powder room door. the basement is not necessary in my opinion. we inquired about the second floor raise, but mattamy won't do it! the next option that i'm gonna ask about is digging deeper for a raised basement ceiling ... now that's the shiznatz! 8)

oh btw considering we both have wood lily's, it's good that our elevation looks nothing alike or you may have run into a problem with only two lots down from us? just a thought. the interior is exactly the same just that you guys have a rounded 4th bedroom (we converted ours to a loft)

Main or 2nd floor. We have a basement laundry right now. I won't get a house like that again.

It's decided now, the laundry stays on the second floor - thanks for the input.
Now another dilemma: alternate kitchen layout, which means the island becomes a bar. We're still thinking, I wish there was a model home we could visit...
As for the fireplace, Cornelia doesn't want one unless it's the real thing, wood burning fireplace. I couldn't care less, but I like the 6K in my pocket :)

I looked at your layout and I would leave it as is. I prefer the center island, but with the side bar, they put the sink in the side bar, correct? If thats the case, that is a nice option too because you can face the great room while doing things. I would say it depends how much for the fireplace as well. Our house has it and an option for the bedroom that were not getting because we have one in between the dining and great room.

Yes, the sink goes in the side bar. I like the island too, I'm only concerned it takes up too much of the kitchen space. Good point about facing the great room.

Search for people with the same model on the board. You may find some almost completed, or people already moved in. It may seem a little forward to ask, but I've asked 2 people if I could checkout their house and 3 others if I could have some pictures. 1 person let us come by (now twice) and 2 others sent various pictures. I couldn't imagine buying the model without the ability to have the walkthrough but sometimes its hard. In our situation we went through someone's house from here at 5p, and bought at 6p back in May. We were able to see all of the upgrades they did and it made it VERY easy to select upgrades as his house was gorgeous. Even some of the colours we ended up matching. Some people will be a little put off, but others are proud of their house and there is a kinsmanship between those that buy the same model :) That said, I don't suggest going door to door as for some people that is putting them on the spot.

We did search, but it looks like there is only one other Sycamore around here! The owner promised us some pictures. Maybe we'll ask if we could visit their house, but it feels kinda weird...

hey guys,
Diana here....
From reading all the posts, it seems like everyone is doing all their research on upgrades. Thanks for keeping me in the loop. I feel a bit behind b/c we have not looked into it too much...however once quarter end is done at work, I will be able to get my life back and have fun with the design of the new home. I plan on putting a budget together this weekend incl cost estimates of all the upgrades...haha that's just the finance geek in me coming out :D Also if anyone is interested, the princess margaret lottery home is open for viewing in Oakville...it may give you some design ideas (address is 1306 Cambridge Drive, Oakville).

And to clear the record. It did take a few seconds to recognize Kevin at the lawyer's office yesterday. Without the pink socks and hat, he looked like such a different person! No worries, it won't happen again!
