Uplander1a - we close on the same day as you and our PDI is also on the 15th!
I take it you were a firebreak home like we were.

Did you get answer about hydro and heat yet? Do we need to call them? How does it work?

I have called Milton Hydro, Union Gas and Reliance Home and make all accounts on my name. Still looking for the information for Garbage Bin.

It is exciting, we both having same day for PDI and Closing. I have PDI in the morning at 8AM. Have you hire any inspector? I am at Lot # 115, House # 327 on Pringle Ave. Hope to see you around

Hi MiltonNew

Personally I wouldn't bother and I'm glad that we didn't. It's really up to you though. It's definitely more worthwhile for your warranty dates. We got one for our 30 Day and we'll do another one for our 1 year.

The PDI is really a cosmetic inspection not in-depth at all. You're looking for dents, scratches, toilets and taps work, drawers close nicely, light switches work, places where you want trim or paint repaired, etc.

I'd save the money and spend it where it counts- for your warranty but in the end if you really want one then get one.

Great to hear you are so happy with them. Do you plan to have another inspection at the 30 or 1 year? From my understanding, the PDI doesn't always lend itself to a thorough inspection.

I suppose best case is you do PDI, 30 and 1 year with an inspector, but from the website that sounds like 595 + 695 + 695. Thats a lot of bling for inspections!

Just curious what your plan is. We close in March and current plans are for someone to come @ the 30, but I gotta say, there is value to this crap being identified and fixed prior to taking possession, I'm just not sure you yourself would be able to tell if they put it from 9ft to 10ft, or 9 to 15 (I wouldn't)

I'd be surprised on garbage, but likely a blue box and a green box. Take a trip to the dump and go up to the place where they weight you, that is where we showed ID and got a blue box.

I'm moving into a new house, when will I get my Blue Box and GreenCart?

If you are moving into a new subdivision, Halton Region will provide you with two Blue Boxes and one GreenCart once the homes on the street or subdivision are substantially completed. Contact your builder to confirm they provide garbage collection until the Region can safely access your subdivision.

If you are moving into a resale house, you can get two free Blue Boxes, one free GreenCart and Kitchen Catcher, and a Waste Management Guide & Collection Calendar by visiting the Halton Waste Management Site, 5400 Regional Road 25, Milton, Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

I'm moving, what should I do with my current Blue Box and GreenCart?

If you are moving out of a house, leave your GreenCart, Blue Box and Waste Management Guide & Collection Calendar behind for the new home owners.

thanks for the bin info, I hadn't looked into it yet as our garbage is done by Mattamy. We don't even bother to leave out the garbage in the morning we just find a convenient bin around our house. I'm really disappointed that there is no recycling or green bin- I feel horrible for having to put everything in the garbage.

What a dusty mess pringle ave is this week. I understand it is a construction site. But the homes are almost done.

hey neighbour!

totally agree. they need to start cleaning it up a little bit for the ones who have already moved in. also, whats with the cement baracades and garbage cans at the entrance coming from scott still there for!? hello, this neighbourhood is the home of over 20 people now, get rid of it!!!

but, im pleased to announce we finally have grass! it was really torturous seeing everyone else get it laid down the street and then of coarse they stop only 3 houses away and not lay anything for a week due to the rain. uggh, finally no more disgusting, slippery mud running down the driveway! (i leave a 6 in the morning, the street lights still werent working last week-ish and i almost fell cause i stepped on a glob of mud and slid down the driveway - im sure my face was a sight to see at that moment - luckily it was pitch black outside!!!)

Wow! Is it ever dusty in Vista at the moment. Our street is crazy dusty (Wettlaufer). I don't envy those that live there for the dust. Now on the other hand, I am going crazy waiting all the way until March for our house, so yes, I would take it NOW NOW NOW. We're really excited today because finally there is more then just dirt in our lot, I think ours is the LAST to have any action but now we have a hole.. not just DIRT!

And everlasting, I really like your outdoor potlights. They look great. I'm really on the fence about doing them as the people that get to see them most is the people checking out your house... either they are on timers and then we get to see them often, but then I worry about the power draw for times when i'm expecting no guests and I'm in my house...

Hey Everyone

Not too sure if I had mentioned yet. But my husband has installed some soffit pot lights on our house and on Lot 177. Check them out!

If interested in some work, PM us!

He's certified with great prices!

Thanks!

Thats great to know, because we really wanted to get the soffit lights from Mattamy, but couldn't justify the ridiculous price. And yes, they look great.

Hi everyone,

I have a question for everyone who moved in.

Do your toilets splash when you flush? I know ours and some of our neighbors' do. The installer told us that they would replace them with the same models, but we are afraid the new ones would splash as well...

HAHA toilets totally splash back when you flush....When we had our PDI they showed us the "half flush" so when we moved it that's what we were trying to do....and yep splash back. So we've learnt to just flush the toilet slowly, anytime we flush it fast is when we get splash back.

When we had our 30 day fixes the plumber here fixing our shower head said that all the new toilets are doing that

This is a few times I hear about this toleit issue, I think that Mattamy should be providing us with a toilet that flushes properly. Splash back! What's that!
So now everone has to teach their toddlers how to 1/2 hold the handel or they will get splashed by toilet water! eh gross... Someone else posted that they lowered the water level in the toilet to prevent the splash back and now they have to flush twice... Now when guess come you have to give them flushing lessons? This is my new house, let me show you how to flush the toilet...lol
Come on, seriously, I think something has to be done about this. Just sound so crasy.

Wow this is the first i'm hearing about this toilet issue- it does seem kind of silly- what toilets are they using now? Our current 5 year old Mattamy home does not have this issue so what is it about these new toilets that make them splash back? bizarre.

I don't know it's something to do with the ECO toilet. All I know is that I don't want them in my home if this is actually how they work. I have started a poll to see how many people actually have this problem.
