Our toilets don't splash when we flush. At least so far so good ... we only closed yesterday but they all seem to be working fine with no splashbacks.

Hi StephandSean,

We paid to have an outlet on our island but we specified the location. If all islands come with an outlet for free then I want my money back.

I can confirm that the plug on the island is now standard. We had added it as an upgrade at our 1st dc appointment, but when we had our 2nd last week we were told it is now included and it was taken off our list and we were given that amt back. Hope this helps.

Does that mean that the island will be bolted down to make it not floatable any more? How is the wire run to it otherwise then?

R&D posted,

We were told the island would be fixed to the floor when we originally asked for the plug so I assume it would now be the case.

You are correct. If there is wiring or plumbing to an island then it must be fixed to the floor. If there is no wiring or plumbing to the island then it can be moved around.

hey devious,
Yes, we are going to the upcoming Mattamy U session this Tuesday. We are looking forward to it. It'll be nice to finally meet some of our neighbours in Vista, Phase 1.

Anyone else attending?

I think most of the time after the presentation I was speaking to Tom (Senior Builder) but I did meet some of you there. I must say I like the ability to talk to the people that are overseeing the process -- for my last house the only person I knew was the sales person, the guy that did the PDI and the warranty person. Its very different to have a builder that encourages you to go to the site rather then forbids you to go onsite. I also overheard someone saying 'its too bad we can't see it in the late stages as the doors will be locked'. Tom said that you can stop by the trailer and if they are available, one of the builders will go with you and open your house for you to tour. I think that is pretty cool.

I think the only low point of the whole thing is the part about the home inspector not permitted at the PDI. I didn't realize it had gotten that bad, but I had read that there was definite friction recently. I'm not sure if that makes her a better inspector (fighting for you), or a worse inspector (they don't want to deal with her). All in all kinda oddball to single it out -- I'm not sure how they would have handled it any better, but I guess I'm glad they haven't tried to block all inspectors.

Hi Devious,

Thanks for sharing that information. We spoke to our house builders and they were both great. They seemed very easy going and accommodating. They encouraged our questions and concerns at any time. This is our second Mattamy home and it is nice to see that the good service has become even better. Well, for now. I guess we shall give the final points after we move in!!!!!

It was ncie to meet some of our neighbours on Wettlaufer. I don't believe we met all of you. It was hard to see who exactly was on our street and we did not have too much time to mingle.

It was nice to meet Chris and Sarah, Simon, David and Nicole, Alim and Aujula, and some of the Mattamy staff. Lot 183 - if you are out there, please say hello!wish we had our villager names on those Nametags as we have no idea who you were if you were there (devious, kosh, reed and danielle, SDF/Copacrew....).

The Mattamy U session was very informative and it was nice to hear that construction is moving ahead nicely and that they don't expect delays! That was a huge concern for us.

:D

Everyone's houses are coming along very quickly. Everyday Wettlaufer looks different across the road and behind us. lol
Very anxious to have a nice completed street and everyone moved in, curbing and sod would be great.

~My only request to those still building is to think of those of us already in houses and not drive and kick up dust everywhere, I realize unless you were cleaning a layer of dirt off everything inside your house everyday you may not think of this. (we wouldn't have)

Sorry cookie, but I think your request may fall on deaf ears. Don't drive around? :) You must be kidding. I understand it must be frustrating to be there and surrounded by madness but you also got your house now, didn't have to worry about this DC charge and the upgrades were much cheaper :) Not much dust today, just crazy amount of dirt, but I understand the frustration (we were first on the street in our last house) but now that they have my foundation dug, I may have to come 5 times a week (down from 2x).

I went to the trailer today to talk to them re my sump pump. They called out to Kerry the excavation guy and he poped right up tot he trailer to talk to me. This type of one on one with the people running the show is such a foreign concept!
