How dare the wild life intrude on our land!
You know, there are many people on threads around here that disagree or have respectful debates about the content. I think the post I quote above from Richard seems unnecessarily rude and dismissive at a time when a young singer was killed by coyotes as HHI noted. Now, to be fair, coyote attacks are rare, but the odd fatal attack happens. Also, yes, Milton's HV and HVE were built in previously wild or natural areas. Yes coyotes and other wildlife is displaced. So I agree with what may be behind Richard's post. However, to dismiss other views like the post I quoted seems insensitive and arrogant. We should respect each others views and discuss the merit of the views. That's the level of debate we're used to around here by the vast majority of posters.
Here's the article on the coyote attack:

Salut
Richards post was almost a month ago, way before the attack. And I don't think that it comes across as insensitive at all. I think he was just using sarcasm to explain that we are the ones that intruding on the coyotes habitat. In my opinion, we can’t live in this constant state of fear that something will go wrong. The only reason why we heard on the news about the coyote attack is because it doesn't happen very often, therefore it makes for a good story. If we were to have a coyote attack on a daily basis than we wouldn't be hearing about it.
If you want to see an example of how the media tries to scare people about the stupidest little things just watch Citytv news specials with Anne Mroczkowski, with headlines like "If you thought that the pencil crayons your kids are using are safe, well..... think again! Find out tonight how your child can DIE just by coloring their favorite coloring book!"
Anyways, I guess I'm just having a bad day, and I just wanted to vent a bit. I'm sure someone will find something wrong with my post, but what can you do. Like Bart Simpson said, "You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't."
